Any drone owners here?

That's what I thought too, but nobody is doing it near me. There's a guy about an hour away who advertises his services and a few in the Boise area, which is over 4 hours away, but not on my side of the state. I'm hoping to get into it quickly and try to corner the market in my neck of the woods.

I need to look into it. I'd love to make some extra extra side money. I read this a while ago.

Advice to Consider When Starting an Aerial Photography Company - DRONELIFE

Edit - There are 10 companies near me. I think Cleveland is covered.
San Diego has tons, can't imagine doing it here except for your own work.
Another guy was taking video of the fires in the LA mountains to sell, and they stopped the air tankers for over an hour causing more devastation, those users should spend time in general pop... Idiots.

They should be liable for damages the fire caused while the tankers were grounded. I'd hate to see what happens when a plane hits one. Hopefully it just destroys it and continues flying.

Not worth finding out, it's times like that when I want huge laws against flying them, but realize it's the 1 POS that ruins the whole pot...

Planes are built to withstand large flocks of birds, so a small drone would be obliterated by even a single engine prop plane. Of course anything is possible and it's absolutely not worth the risk to others in that plane. That said, I'm with you, it's because of these idiots flying them where they shouldn't be, that has caused the FAA to crack down on them. Case in point, there's a YouTuber named Casey Weinstat (I'm prob spelling his last name wrong) who flies his drone in downtown New York city. Dangerous and irresponsible, yet he has millions of subscribers. SMDH! Makes no sense whatsoever.
Personally I've been working on this business plan for months, and it'll be another couple before I even fly a larger drone. I'm working on being certified, licensed & insured. This will not only cover MY butt, but will give my prospective clients piece of mind that I'm a responsible drone operator.
That's why I've purchased this practice drone. It's been an absolute blast to fly, but I would have definitely caused some death (to small animals at least) & destruction with one of the heavier ones.
It's amazing the amount of abuse this little quad can take. I've beat the hell out of it the past two days and it still flys great. I haven't bothered to attach the camera yet since it drains the battery even more, so I've been able to get at least 10 minutes of flight time before recharging the battery. I'm waiting on Amazon/UPS to deliver a 4 pack of batteries with a charger that can charge all 4 batteries at once and then I'll start practicing with the camera.

My main concern ATM is mastering the flight.

Note to self, when the controller loses contact with the drone, and the drone goes into homing mode, I guess the Phantom 3 does that, 4 too? Don't try and catch it... The blades will cut you like butter....
Neighbor got 42 stitches from his P3...

LOL, yeah the more advanced drones will return to home/where you took off from. But if the battery dies before you can get it home it'll descend straight down. I would imagine the props on the higher end drones would slice you up pretty bad, but that's what prop guards are for. Of course nobody wants to look like a newb by using prop guards. LOL [emoji23]
42 stitches! Yikes! Was he trying to give his drone a back massage? Sheesh!

Extra batteries just arrived. Woohoo!

This is something I'd really like to start getting into, just haven't had the time. I've been looking into some of the Walkera drones. They seem to be a good bang for the buck.

Walkera offers some amazing drones for the money. I'll definitely have to revisit their lineup. I kinda got stuck on the whole DJI bandwagon due to their obstacle avoidance feature of the "4", when in reality their are some equally compatible, if not better drones out there for the money.
I like the Yuneec line as well. Their Typhoon G is a great mid level drone that offers a lot for the 500 dollar price tag. On top of that, like many of the Walkera models, they offer retractable landing gear which is an amazing feature. Thanks again for the heads up @danDroid , I forgot all about that brand.
