They should be liable for damages the fire caused while the tankers were grounded. I'd hate to see what happens when a plane hits one. Hopefully it just destroys it and continues flying.
Planes are built to withstand large flocks of birds, so a small drone would be obliterated by even a single engine prop plane. Of course anything is possible and it's absolutely not worth the risk to others in that plane. That said, I'm with you, it's because of these idiots flying them where they shouldn't be, that has caused the FAA to crack down on them. Case in point, there's a YouTuber named Casey Weinstat (I'm prob spelling his last name wrong) who flies his drone in downtown New York city. Dangerous and irresponsible, yet he has millions of subscribers. SMDH! Makes no sense whatsoever.
Personally I've been working on this business plan for months, and it'll be another couple before I even fly a larger drone. I'm working on being certified, licensed & insured. This will not only cover MY butt, but will give my prospective clients piece of mind that I'm a responsible drone operator.
That's why I've purchased this practice drone. It's been an absolute blast to fly, but I would have definitely caused some death (to small animals at least) & destruction with one of the heavier ones.
It's amazing the amount of abuse this little quad can take. I've beat the hell out of it the past two days and it still flys great. I haven't bothered to attach the camera yet since it drains the battery even more, so I've been able to get at least 10 minutes of flight time before recharging the battery. I'm waiting on Amazon/UPS to deliver a 4 pack of batteries with a charger that can charge all 4 batteries at once and then I'll start practicing with the camera.
My main concern ATM is mastering the flight.
