Anyone have an LG G watch?

There are settings within the find my phone app on the phone where you can set what each device does, set a delay, etc. You can set it up so the phone does nothing when they disconnect, which I believe is the default.

Ummmmm, I probably should have told him to do a reset prior to moving in, huh? He was so eager to get the thing set up that I didn't even think of it.
I think I'll let him play around with it until this weekend and then suggest we reset it "just in case" ;)

Walked in on my oldest on the computer last night.... On Swappa looking at LG Gs :) Yeah, Mom is definitely the trend setter of the family. I have a lot of clients I see on a daily basis. They are 99.99% men and all in the electronics field. I'm the envy of many with this watch. None of them have one yet (We're a little behind tech times in Central Ohio), so I am placing bets with my team as to who will be the first to come in wearing a smart watch of any kind. FWIW, I have been singing the praises of the LG G for battery life, price, and durability for a used watch to start out with.
It's been nearly a month with mine and I can't imagine life without it anymore! Lovin' it!

It's not just central Ohio. Most of the nation is either on the fence about the whole thing or dead set against the need/desire. Once AW 2.0 comes out it's still gonna be some time as the tech becomes more accepted, gets copied by other systems, new hardware comes out, etc. The very first what we call smartwatch came out before the turn of the century but it's only been recently that ones tied into phone operating systems have come onto the market. Having a separate contract, phone number and monthly cost are going to continue to inhibit interest and purchase of the 3g/4g versions but part of that is government regulation in this country prohibiting SIM cards from sharing a number. That may or may not change depending on pressure from the market. Battery life is another inhibitor at the moment as many aren't willing to charge their watch daily. The fitness band will continue to help in that mindset over time to go with improvements in battery life of smartwatches.
The smartwatch will either be an accepted form of technology one day or it'll be another niche that our great grandchildren will look at us funny when we tell them we were smartwatch owners way back in the 2010s .

Yea...not even close. I'm offended by that remark as a Northern Ohioan. Although I can't argue that the middle of this fine state is pretty...podunk. :D

It's not like you get off a plane in NYC and everyone is wearing smart watches. Watches have been fading from popularity every since the cell phone was invented that allowed you to carry the time in your pocket. Watches will never return to mainstream...Smart or otherwise. ;)

It's really a shame that these things haven't caught on. I think for the majority of women who are into gadgets, the size may be an issue, but I wouldn't want to look at any smaller of a screen with these old -- er eyes. As for the men into tech gadgets, I am really surprised more don't wear these. Honestly, I don't think most people know what all a smart watch can do for them. I know it's really "just a gadget", but it certainly helps me out immensely throughout my day.

I'm very curious and anxious to see where this takes us down the road. I DO think it'll catch on, just wondering what these things are going to morph into. I work in the electronic security industry and am starting to see the use of watch apps emerging. Who doesn't want their watch to show images and messages sent from their home security system? Next, maybe access control use for businesses? I'd rather hold my watch up to a reader instead of fumbling for a keytag or fob... Maybe a lesser expense than biometrics for those wishing to save some dollars on access... Ha! Images of James Bond just popped into my head!

As for the battery life, if folks can talk themselves into setting the thing on it's cradle when the go to sleep, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I would rather sleep with my watch on, but then I might get so accustomed to having it on I'd forget to take it off to shower. It's a mindset thing...

For whatever reason, Ohio is behind... I'm not originally from here, but choose to live here.. The people are what makes this state extraordinary IMHO ;)

As people get more lazy (yeah, we're not there yet), I think they will start missing looking down to see the time instead of having to fumble with a holster or dig out of a pocket. I haven't lost home yet, Pere....

This is where AW2.0 will come into play. Standalone capability will enhance the things we take for granted such as discount cards, badges, etc along with things we do with our phones but even it will be a new born babe at first, like iOS was and Android was.

Why? That's probably the biggest question anyone will ask about the technology. Why do I need it, want it, would I be willing to pay well over $100 for it, etc. A fitness band has a specific reason to exist; fitness tracking. A smartphone has a specific reason to exist; communication be it vocal or digital data transfer. What will make the smartwatch? For me I started out as wanting a fitness band that would control my music player, the Gear Fit being exactly what I sought. I'd you look at old posts I made about it I evolved its usage in ways well beyond what it was first intended for, though most were clunky and inefficient. It was my incessant inability to see its limitations that kept me seeking and pushing its boundaries though most will never be practical in everyday use. I outgrew it but wanted just a simple step up, not even considering the standalone as a desire. It was only the unavailability of the Gear Neo that caused me to jump to my current Gear S and even it at first was not being used how I now do. I was limited in my thinking to it being married to my phone. It was my search for a way to have something like Color Note (on my phone) like sync capability that led me to my first standalone app, My Notes In Gear, that my thinking began to evolve into using my smartwatch much like a mini pda instead of just a fancy smartwatch that can make phone calls. I'm so excited about the future of Android Wear because Samsung had the opportunity to dominate the standalone market but decided mediocrity was a better goal. Apple seems fine with their watch being a better version of the Gear Fit than a true powerhouse Apple device. It seems only Google has decided niche and mediocrity isn't good enough. I chose Samsung Tizen over Android Wear because its os is more phone launcher like in how to navigate from place to place, an easier thing for me to learn. Having a home button that clones any S or Note series device made the transition even easier. My only inhibition to another watch when mine wears it is the market doesn't seem conducive to those of us that will sacrifice watch size for screen size. At my age and eyesight the biggest feature I'd use on the S2 or Apple watch would be pinch zoom. I can't even imagine trying to use the 1.5" round screens that AW offers. This

is hard enough for me to read on the phablet of smartwatches. I'm excited that that limitation will also come to pass on smaller physical sized devices through advances in things such as font size, scroll accuracy, etc

Still disagree. We are no more behind then MI, IN, IL, OK, VA, WVA, and every other state that isn't NY or CA.
Most cool new things start on the coasts and work their way inward.
Y'know, like Food Trucks. By the time we got those, they weren't cool anymore. :D
But technology? Tech isn't concentrated like that. Sony doesn't just sell watches on the coasts. ANd people love their tech here as much as anywhere else.

Not to get to far OT but the Cost Of Living is pretty nice, too. :D

As people get more lazy (yeah, we're not there yet), I think they will start missing looking down to see the
time instead of having to fumble with a holster or dig out of a pocket.

I think if that WAS going to happen, it would have by now. I used to be a watch guy. I got a cellphone, that first old timey flip, and pretty much stopped wearing right then.
"Why do I need a watch?" I proclaimed.
MANY years of not wearing them and using that same talking point.
Then I got a smartwatch cheap to try out.
Not only does it do stuff I like (buzz when I leave my phone, page my phone being #1 and #2) but I'm realizing something else: I can check the time in .2 seconds when wearing a watch. It takes exactly 2 seconds (yes, I just timed it) to pull my phone out and look at the time. Only because the screen lights up immediately or it would take even longer). Now let's extrapolate those 1.8 seconds out over the course of a lifetime....think of all that time saved!!!!

:D

Okay, I'll agree with you on most of what you said about OH not being any further behind, than most states, but in an electronic security end, I do see where CENTRAL Ohio lags behind other large cities. I can't speak for the other two big cities in this state, but do have some insight and it appears they have the same issues (again, speaking solely on my info regarding electronic security). Like the old saying goes, "When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
And yeah, the cost of living is AWESOME! :D

I don't watch a lot of TV. Are there many commercials for smart watches and AW? Maybe it's not being marketed properly. Heck, I didn't know these things existed for Android users until I tripped over a post on DF last year. Seriously. I only thought Apple offered them. Whatever the reason, I think it's a shame. I truly love what all my watch does and want everyone to get on board this bus!

Getting us back on topic, I am a round face watch person, but do really like the "square" LG G. I told myself it was like using a little mini phone :p

Other than the one Pere linked the only ones I've seen are ones for a specific app that works on a smartwatch. Hyundai commercials are the most prevalent with their automobiles now becoming "smartwatch ready"
As far as the belief that Apple had the first smartwatch proves the marketing genius of Apple. They marketed it first, the masses just believed the rest. For that matter if you look in old threads many predicted the masses would believe Apple did it first without Apple saying a word. Marketing by Apple still didn't cause their watch to blow away anything because it still came back to the why.
The G watch is just the beginning of something great.

Okaaaaay, clearly my family and I are not the targeted audience with this one... "Spose they go after some of us who are a bit, ummmm, more mature and accustom to wearing a watch -- an audience who might appreciate a timepiece which does more? Much more?
