ASURION SUX! NO LONGER CARRIES Moto DROID!

you can get a droid!

thank you all...i read every post on here regarding this issue and on another forum. i tripped on the stairs and had to choose between saving myself or my droid...chose myself...although after this headache should of chosen to save the phone...at least my health insurance wouldn't give me "comparable" service, haha. so my phone works screen is all cracked up and likes to shed glass particles onto my fingers. did my claim and was sent a eris yesterday. i was not happy. i had the option at signing 2 months ago to get the incredible or regular droid....chose droid because i need the keyboard! after talking to 2 different reps at asurion being told by them that they had none in stock and would not since motorola is no longer making the phone i took a 4 hour break from calling. decided to give in one more try. called and told the rep that the 2 phones that they were offering me, eris or devour, we're not comparable because of x,y,z...and armed with what i learned from this thread i shot all i could at her in the nicest way and all of a sudden, "oh wait, it seems we just recieved a shipment of droids".....few minutes later, i was told my droid will be delievered tomorrow. IT CAN BE DONE! DON'T SETTLE! its all on luck of who you are talking to, call a few times, and use what you know....eventually it will go in your favor.
 
Wow...I also called, probably a few minutes difference from jmannguate...this may be lengthy but I really need all your advice! PLEASE! I'm sick of being screwed over! I appreciate any suggestions! Here goes: on Tuesday, someone stole my phone from me at target. I called asurion who gave me the option for the desire or eris. I just moved so I don't have the net to research phones so I called verizon to get their opinion...ivan was helpful and did a three way call and advocated for me. The asurion rep was super rude and hung up on us. Ivan told me we should wait til today,Friday to call back to see if we could poss. Get the droid x if mine wasn't available. Guess what? Ivan never called! =( so, after waiting all night/reading these threads, called verizon again. This rep wasn't nearly as good at arguing and when speaking with asurion again, they still say the only option is the eris and now want me to sign and fax an afidavid before even filing a claim! I am using my bf's droid since we don't have the internet yet and of course, the doc. Is not supported on the phone so I can't even print it. The rep also claimed to check all facilities and there were NO DROIDS IN STOCK but "they do get shipments ev eryday" I am so frustrated I feel ill! WHAT DO I NEED TO DO/SAY TO GET MY PHONE OR A COMPARABLE ONE???? What exaxtly should I say as my "x,y,z" argument??? PLEASE help me out! Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

i did research and basically the devour has a camera that is around 2 megapixals lower...its in general a stepdown in my opinion. it looks around the same but its silver, camera in the front, but it seems like the home page layout, etc is not the same. the eris is made by htc and has a smaller screen, lower resolution, no actual keyboard, no navigation.... i pushed that those 2 are not comparable due to my research and the amount my droid is worth i will not settle for a lower grade phone. i'd accept an incredible but that i really prefer my regular droid. she said the incredible is considered an upgrade in which i replied, well i don't find it acceptable as your customer to get the phone options that are a few tiers down. thats when she said they might have just gotten a shipment of droids...go figure. i did mention that their were forums discussing this very issue and people were getting their droids replaced with droids or the droid incredible. that seemed to really help. be persistant, if it doesn't seem to be going well with one rep, hang up and call again. it really depends greatly on who you get on the other line and your argument: "I KNOW THAT IT CAN BE DONE, THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO ATTEST TO IT BEING RESOLVED IN THEIR FAVOR ONLINE. SO EITHER YOU GIVE ME THE PHONE I PAID INSURANCE ON, THE DROID, OR I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO YOUR SUPERVISOR....good luck! keep calling....as many times as it takes!
 
Thanks so much for the advice! I'm simply exhausted by this all now...I'm going to sleep on it and call in the morning! If they are not willing to help me I'm going to prolly just go to the store to see if they may help me...I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
 
Hey I see this as an opportunity when the 2ghz/lte droids come out at the end of the year. 89 dollars for a upgrade, and I may cover my losses if I "lose" my droid with a bad esn :).
 
Well, I just called Asurion to "test" this claim. I began by stating I believe I lost my phone and before I begin a claim in case I do find it, inquired if they had a Droid ready for my replacement.

NO! They only have Eris, Devour and Incredible! They stated Motorola stopped production and there are none out there.

I commented I was stunned since the Devour and Eris (Desire) were downgrades and the closest model to the Droid was the Incredible, though it lacks the physical keyboard.

Oh well...not good. Maybe it will change when Droid 2 is released.

I will make sure I do NOT lose this phone and handle it gingerly while being careful with ROM's etc.

I want to keep this Droid as long as possible!
 
Well Im happy my phone is still working. I was pretty sure it was gonna be killed. But Im still shocked that they do not have the droid. Its not like it was discontinued a few months back. But maybe in a few months the device they will give you will be a Droid x or droid 2 lol. Then maybe my phone will get damaged again or something

This is a lot of horse manure. People still have to turn in their Droids for Warranty Repair. Verizon sends out a refurb so they are out there!

Funny how the guy with a lawyer not only got a replacement but got a new Droid. I'm thinking about canceling the insurance. I strongly doubt that they will give out a Droid 2 to replace a Droid.
 
I'm going to call Verizon Monday about this. Why pay for insurance if you're not guaranteed to get the same or better phone?

I just hung up with Verizon to verify: If one were not on an insurance plan, verizon would replace the Droid with another Droid for $289....."while supplies last." Verizon reminded me Droid was discontinued.

I told them Asurion is not offering "equal to or better than" replacements (with the exception, perhaps, of the Incredible) and they were shocked. I then asked if Verizon could fulfill the insurance/replacement request since they have Droids: NO.

So, you Droiders on 1 or 2 year Verizon contracts, with or w/o an insurance plan, make sure you handle your phone like a rare, priceless object! Hang on to them...if you don't mind paying $289 from Verizon for another...while supplies last.

For those not on Verizon contracts, I am sure you can find Droids on Amazon, Ebay, etc.

I will keep you all posted....Going to go to the Verizon store tomorrow with the bf to figure this out. There is no way I am accepting anything less. Like its been stated...they ARE out there! And I was told last night that they ARE getting shipments in EVERYDAY! Maybe only a few, who knows? No one, from either Verizon or Assurion has ever said they stopped production to me so I will keep pushing for it. This just REALLY blows because my phone was STOLEN! So I have NO phone until this gets figured out! And being in the field I am in, not having a phone with the capabilities of the Droid, is NOT an option at this point. Hence why I purchased my phone to begin with! Somethings just gotta give. I have worked in customer service for over ten years....I know there is something SOMEONE can do...its just how much can my sanity take. Today, I am taking the day off and will worry about it tomorrow. Just another day phoneless. :(
