ASURION SUX! NO LONGER CARRIES Moto DROID!

Go to Local Stores!!!

Ok, I'm new to this forum but have been reading all your posts because I was in the same boat. My Moto Droid was replaced by Assurion with an Eris (I was told they were comparable). After having the Eris for one day I KNEW they were NOT comparable. I went into my local Verizon store and they totally took care of me. They called the corporate office of Assurion and Assurion paid for me a new Moto Droid that the Verizon store had in stock. So, I walked out with a brand new Moto Droid and I am sending the Eris back to Assurion. Yeah!!! Buy local and always talk to someone face to face, it pays off!

Excellent recommendation. I firmly believe in the "squeaky wheel" adage. But, supplies can vary store to store.

Ok guys, here's the deal...ASURION IS LYING! It's one thing to say that they don't have anymore or won't be getting anymore droids, but just a blatant lie to say that motorola has stopped producing droids. I called motorola several times earlier today and got the same answer every time. "NO, MOTOROLA HAS NOT STOPPED PRODUCTION ON THE ORIGINAL MOTO DROID"! I don't know why the reps at asurion are telling people this...it is not true. Someone is highly mis-informed (or just high period...lol) and I doubt that it is motorola. So don't give in and don't accept this line of BS.

It's simple , they are in the money making business and although they already made billions of dollars every year and seen a constant increase in their business for the last couple of years , apparently that's not enough , they still want to squeeze the price difference between an Eris and Droid too .

this is comforting to hear! I am totally going to go into my store tomorrow and try to have them help me! Thanks everyone!

My Droid Replacement story

I pay 5.99 for my insurance with a $50 deductible. If I was given an Assuriance brochure I don't remember. But I have always called Verizon themselves and they have worked with me. Although I had a horror story about dealing with Verizon this last month.
Here's my story:
I bought my NEW Droid when it launched, It worked great for about 4 months but then minor things started happening, So minor I didn't complain until I couldn't use the phone part any more after 8 months of owning it. I'm on my 4th Droid in 5 weeks. The original one and it's replacement had very high pitch shrill sounds and no one could hear me because it was getting louder and louder. The third one the other party couldn't hear me at all but I could hear them loud and clear. The fourth one the Droid keeps shutting off constantly and the only way to disconnect a phone call is to take out the battery. The screen also goes off and will not come back on without taking out the battery. This has all been verified by a Verizon Corp store.
I have gone back and forth with them about not getting another Droid as I've had so many bad ones. I have taken each Droid in to the same Verizon store so they could see for themselves that I'm not making up these problems. With this last one the rep even called tech support and was moved up to 2nd level but still could not fix the problem. So they ordered me another Droid replacement. So that will make #5.
Now my problem is that Verizon is insisting that NO ONE else is complaining about their Droid and they haven't had to replace any.
I tried very nicely to get them to understand I need a phone that works. All they said they can do is keep sending me Droids until we get one that works. How ridiculous!! I also had to pay for a full month of service, which I didn't get because of the phone problems. I said at least they could credit me for that. Nope.
Very dissastified with Verizon right now.

I'm now on my 6th Droid and fingers crossed it is working so far but it hasn't even been 24 hours since I activated it. Hopefully this phone will be the lucky one to work properly. Now I'm a happy camper again as I have my Droid back again!!
But I guess I'm glad I didn't deal with Assurian even though I pay for them. But I got a refurb Droid each time. I had to wait a few days twice for an exchange as they didn't have any refurbs or new ones in stock to replace mine.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
Good luck everyone with their problems. Hope they are resolved to your satisfaction.
Nancy

The title of this thread is false and mis-leading. Asurion is still covering the droid. I know this for a fact and have heard it from a VERY reliable source. They currently have a shortage of droids, this is true. They will offer to send you a different model, this is also true. What you can do is tell them that you would prefer to have a droid. They will tell you to go to your local Verizon CORPORATE store and have them call asurion. Asurion will then authorize the agent to replace the phone with a NEW droid out of inventory and will proceed to give the agent a CC# for payment of FULL RETAIL price for the phone. I would suggest if this is not offered to you, that you bring it up to the asurion rep you are speaking with. I would say, in my opinion, that this is going above and beyond for the customer. They are out of stock on the droid, it happens. Perhaps all of you that know people that have made bogus claims, you should thank them for the shortage.

It almost sounds like you work for Asurion.

The problem I think that most of the posters were having is that Asurion NEVER told them that process (go directly to the store to get a phone from Verizon). And I'm sure the process isn't just as easy as you have indicated. In any case, if Asurion is currently out of the Droid, they should be up front and clear with their customers as to this process.

This is why I don't carry insurance. I self insure and luckily the money is not an issue for me if I have to pay out of pocket for my phone if I damage or lose it and it is not otherwise covered by manufacturer's warranty. I got screwed like this once by asurion once several years back and never again!

I pay 5.99 for my insurance with a $50 deductable

a lot of us must be getting ripped off then, i use to pay $5.99/$50 before i had a droid. now it's $7.99/$89. if you have to get a 7th droid, insist on a new one...refurbs suck. that's why they are refurbs, they sucked for the first person too.

Im looking at my account online to find out how much i pay a month for insurance. But i cant seem to find it. Where do i find that? I looked thur my bill and all my changes and cant seem to find it. Hopefully i have it. Weird not to find it

If asurion were to offer another phone, maybe coax them into getting you the droidx. I mean, the eris is quite primitive in comparison to the motodroid.

The only reason I haven't gotten the droix is because of the lack of mod/altering ability.

Motorola Droid Classic for the WIN.

You pay 5.99 with a 50.00 deductible until you renew your contract. You are grandfathered in. Also, if you have a feature phone it is 5.99 a month, but it is 7.99 for smart phones.

I think when i got my droid they might have took my insurance off. Because i cant find it on any of my bills since i had the droid. I told them to take Vcast music and stuff like that off. Maybe they took it off at same time. Is there anyway i can add it on now? Or is it to late
