Battery life

My first smartphone to ever say 1 day and so many hours ..lol The first charge...lol Now a couple of days and much more use, I've noticed my haptic feedback has weakened ...anyone else? The other was the green tint but found turning off ambient helped..lol

Do you think the refurbished is going to be any better? Or will they send a new one?

Refurbished?! I don't even think so! I'm within 14 days and if I get a refurb they will get it right back and have some explaining to do.

I'll definitely let you know. That was my concern from the start and I was told it wouldn't be. So we will see. Granted, how would we even be able to tell on the razor if it is a refurbished one? Been a minute since I have even had to replace a phone.

I picked up the Razr at launch and drained the battery completely that night. Then I plugged it in until it it reached 100% but no longer. Then drained until empty. I have pretty solidly stuck to this charging method so far. I text throughout the day, make about 5-10 5min on average calls a day, check twitter and facebook constantly, and do moderate web browsing. I don't live in a 4g area and I am usually connected via wifi. I can go between 36-48hr between charge.

The refurbished ones don't come in the same box and don't have the SD card, battery, battery door, charging cable or manuals.

36-48hrs? Wow! I'm on day 7 with my Razr and I will say battery life has significantly improved since my first few days. I do have 4G in my area. I've tested Smart Actions - Battery Extender. Waiting for data and stuff to sync back everytime I woke my phone up was annoying. I've tried turning off 4G. At the end of the day I've turned of all Smart Actions and left 4G on. I'm not going to sacrifice 4G just for a few extra hours...hell 4G is why I upgraded to begin with! As of today I got about 17 hours and I'm currently flashing red for low battery. Very good in my opinion! I'm happy!

So what about the people who say heavy usage and still have 70% left after 4-6 hours? Can't be true can it?

Unless heavy usage is actually not equivalent to browsing the web or forum app for 30-40 minutes and losing 20% battery.

"Heavy use" has such different meanings for different people. Subjective descriptions of battery life are ... well, subjective. The user usually doesn't note key settings like screen brightness or which radio he is using. Also, repeating the same activity a few times shows variations in battery drain, so he may be experiencing a statistical outlier and not realize it. In addition, the battery does not drain in a completely linear fashion, as I am seeing in my tests. The phone's battery drains slightly faster once battery capacity drops below the 30% mark.

When I post the results of my experiments I will include my settings and methods. Not sure how scientific it will be, but it's the best attempt at a controlled study that I can do, sans a government grant and a boatload of free time :-)

I am hoping one if the posters here will replicate the study with an HTZ Rezound. I would be interested to see a comparison with the Razr.

Are you using any of the Smart Actions?

Today will be the ultimate "real world" test of this phone's battery life. Going on the Horrible Hundred in a few hours ( http://horrible-hundred.com ). I'll be doing the 35 mile course, BTW. Gonna be using the phone for MapMyRide app (which uses 3g and GPS radios) and taking pictures. It'll be at least a 3 hr ride plus the wait time before, so I'll go about 5 hours between charges. Will the battery last? I'm predicting it will. Just gotta remember to turn off my Smart Actions cause I need the 3g and GPS to stay on when the screen goes off.

Oh it will come in a cardboard fold and no box, nor SD. But they will have to give the battery because obviously its unremoveable ...lol you'll know...but this phone has its ups since they don't remove battery they have to send the whole phone

Agreed this is the proper way and how I've always charged my new devices when new..I know they say charge up @ 25% but the first two charges are crucial to this method...
