Battery life

Battery too weak

Fully charged in the morning. Fifty percent power six hours later. No wifi, Bluetooth, or gps enabled. No calls and only one mail check. I brought it back. I was told that my experience was not atypical. Great phone but unusable unless you leave it charging. If you're on the go and not in a car, there are issues.
I did see other posts that suggest battery life gets better after some recharge cycles. That was not suggested by sales people. They did offer the idea go buying an external battery but I think there's a fundamental design issue if the phone does not stay powered for a business day just on stand bt after a full power charge. My 2-year old droid is better (and slower, granted).
Nice features, but it's like a BMW with a two gallon gas tank, IMHO.

I am at 10 hours of moderate to heavy usage today and my battery level is at 20%... Tmrw I will add some smart actions and see where that gets me..

I have been extremely happy with the Razr's performance and battery life, so far is a non-issue. I haven't "tweaked" anything or made any rules yet to conserve power and still have a good charge time (average is 20 hrs before needing to be plugged in). I'm still getting used to the device and features (former OG Droid) and don't know if the battery will last longer or shorter over time.

Been on for 15 hours of moderate use and has 40% left. On 4G with no power saving options employed. Just unplugged it this morning and it's been laying around on the table all day.

Laying around on the table is moderate use?

No. The web surfing and emails and phone calls were moderate use. It's been used off and on all day. Almost 20 hours now. Battery at 20%

I got about 12 hours today with moderate use. Charged again when hit 13%. I streamed pandora off and on for a total of about 2 hours. Took a minute video and uploaded to Facebook on lte. A few texts, a few calls. Played some games. Travelled from a 4g area to 3G and back. Have smart actions for home, turning data off, and wifi on, and car turning data, gps on, and wifi off. Bluetooth always on. Battery extender turning data and wifi off after screen black, and no motion. Also have juice defender to turn wifi off after one minute of wifi not connecting to anything.

Ok...almost through my first day of battery calibration. On my second rundown (first was 17 hours with typical use)...21 hours and 15% left! Granted, right before bed I allowed smart actions to add a low battery action...so I went to bed at 20% and woke up to the same 20%, just six hours later :)

Overall,I am thoroughly impressed with this phone and the Smart Actions!

I love the smart actions! I'm always forgetting to mute my phone and unmute it when I leave work but now the smart actions takes care of it for me! There are lots of other actions too. This is by far my favorite phone of all time.

You can't overcharge the phone. There is no reason to take it off the charger at night.

Also, the operating system, and everything else running will slowly drain the phone even if you are not using it.

Likewise, the phone may drain faster depending on how strong a signal you get on your radio.

So if I'm in a bad area for phone coverage will that make my battery drain faster? I hope so because I am and it does! My fast drained battery said Android OS 49% and display 24%. It was getting hot too. Could this be a struggle to find a signal?

Most definitely, especially if it's the 4g signal.

first test of battery last night. standby for 6 hours left it at 30%. I'm not happy with the battery but as usual custom roms usually improve performance.

A replacement was not offered as an option. I was told that my experience was typical and not all that bad (I was getting 12 hours between charges after all). They did suggest either an extended battery case (negating the value of a thin phone) or extra chargers for the car or wherever I am on the move. I opted to return the device. Maybe a two-mile long extension cord? They did mention turning off 4G to extend the battery life and enabling it when I needed to do something on the web. It came down to too many workarounds decreasing the value (to me) of the phone.
