Beep/Tone during calls

Well, I made the trip to my son's school and back Tuesday, 1-10-12, 300 miles round trip and not one beep. So at this point and time, I am hoping that the update to 6.11.748.XT912 that it ran Monday night/Tuesday morning (it was showing when I woke up and I didn't do it so not exactly when it ran) fixed it as it has not beeped improperly since but it is well documented with Verizon should the problem come back for any reason and I am going to keep following along here to see if it's mostly Verizon people that are having the issue or other droid carriers. Also, I'd still like to know if everyone elses was more local like mine was to near my house or if it was anywhere that they happened to be.

Mine started doing this same thing two weeks ago. Phone has been great up until then.

Annoying beeps when I'm trying to use the phone. Phone also becomes very hot and battery dies off quickly...only when using the phone. I also noticed when I pull the phone away from my face to see what's going on, I have no 4g or 3g service....when I hang up, service comes back. VERY ANNOYING!

Data dropping during a call is normal behavior, my Eris, Fascinate, X2 and Razr have all done it while on a voice call. The only exception might be if you're on 4g. That's the only way to get simultaneous voice/data on Verizon with a Motorola phone. Some of the HTC phones do it on 3g, but to my knowledge none of the moto phones do.

Update: it just occurred to me that the beep maybe from something attempting to update during the phone call. This just happened: I was on a call for 20min & heard the beep once about midway thru. When I hung up I noticed that my Facebook/Twitter widget had updated 10min prior- are about the same time I heard the beep in the middle of the call.

Had my phone for 2 days and it started beeping like the rest of you. Verizon, Motorola, and Costco were useless, but I was able to play around enough in my phone to get it to stop for now.... Can someone else see if turning off Roaming Banner and In-Pocket detection under Display settings fixes this for you too?

I have not heard the tone! The roaming banner must have been the cause!!!

Well guys, it looks like Verizon is the culprit on this one. I haven't seen anyone mention any other carriers. I'm still getting the beep after trying every different setting on the phone. I got a text message from tier 3 support saying there is nothing wrong. So I guess case closed? Yeah, Heading into the store again today to try and get this figured out. Verizon it's really starting to disappoint me lately.

No google voice. reset the phone back to factory. Disabled all notifications and ran like that for a couple days. Still had the beep. Probably going to be one of those issues you just have to accept till it just goes away one day and you don't even notice. Like that silly pain in your knee or elbow.LOL

Is it possible that it could be something at the kernel level? I never had it until the .748 update and it continues with the .173 leak.

Didn't research to see if this was mentioned before, so please no flaming if it was, but....

Do you have Voicemail set up on your Wireless phone number? The beeptone COULD be the voicemail notifying you that you have voicemail that you haven't listened to!!

Thanks for the idea, but it's not a phone notification. Started on my OG Droid in September and carried over to my razr. It sounds just like someone on the other end pressed the #1 key like they are dialing. Not long, not super short. Just like when you dial. Way different tone than the beep for a text or email notification.
