[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for the Droid X

They need to fix the battery drain problem. 5 hours 40 minutes, down to 54% from a full charge. Cell standby using 67%.

10% an hour is what I get. Which nightly are you on?

I'm probably going to make a backup of this rom and go back to liberty 0.9 until the battery life gets fixed.

my battery life is horrible on this with barely anything running. its usually down to 50-60% in about 3 hours with light use, mostly text messages

Hmm, I'm having some issues with the install. I installed the first part, got the radio install, then installed gapps. Booted the phone up and everything was fine. Installed bootstrap etc, however, now when I used droid 2 bootstrap to reboot into recovery, I'm stuck at the M logo. Battery pulls etc won't get passed the M.

Is my only option to SBF?

From what i've read yeah - with CM4DX first rule is DO NOT install DX/D2 Bootstrapper. In CM7 to get into recover you just hold your power button and then select reboot -> Recovery. The Bootstrappers mess up the 2nd-Init boot i think.

You can't use bootstrap with CM7, if you do then your only option is to SBF as far as I know.

Yes, sbf, and then rtfm. Do NOT USE any bootstrap on cm7 or any roms based on it.

To reboot into recovery, holds down power and select reboot, then reboot recovery.

You were instructed not to install bootstrapper after installing cm7. As far as I know you'll have to sbf and start over. Do not install bootstrap after you're in cm7.

Where are you instructed not to? the original post does not mention not installing the bootstrap. May need to add it in there.

Just got done SBFing, so about to try the first method. Did the second method with Monster file first go around.

7.) Install z4root and Droid 2 Boostrap. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on. If you use Droid X Bootstrap your head will explode and the polar caps will melt. Don't try it. Once you're rooted and recovery is bootstrapped, make sure you've got the CM7 file, the Google Apps file, and the CRT animation and Camera Fix zip files on your SD Card, reboot into recovery.

Its there.

I used droid 2 bootstrap. not droid x.

this is why I was confused. It says nothing about not using either when using CM7. As I couldn't get past the M logo while using droid 2 bootstrapper.

They use the same method. Common sense dictates it would have the same end result. Enjoy sbf'ng your phone though, we'll be here when you do it again.

Please correct me if I misunderstood your last post. I am not sure if you are making a hostile remark towards me, or offering further help if anything else goes wrong. As i am still unsure if droid 2 bootstrap is ok to use or not after having CM7

I had a simple question, because the wording in the orignal post is easy to misunderstand. You state to install droid 2 bootstrap, and not droid x bootstrap. You do not mention to not use either bootstrap after installing CM7. Since GB droid x bootstrap has been unusable with most everything, and droid 2 has been used in its place. Thus what i thought #7 was refering to.

Do not install droid anything bootstrap once cm7 is installed. It isn't needed. You only need it that one time.

To further clarify, not only is it not needed, it will cause your phone to not work properly as you have found out. Simply do not install either of them once the CM7 is installed. It comes with a recovery module built in.
