Bionic or Galaxy S2

I should've added "for me".

The Bionic only has 512mb of RAM. That's what kills me about the device itself... and Moto's antics of locking everything down.

... my comment stems more from the fact that LG, HTC and Samsung have these dual core devices coming out, and other than the SII (which still isn't confirmed) none of them are coming to VZW any time soon. Why is my only choice for dual core on VZW at this point going to be the Bionic?

I do apologize for any confusion... and don't mean to make the Bionic seem like junk... but I'm not looking for a Moto device (except maybe the Targa) so in my opinion the Bionic isn't cutting it on VZW... for me :)

Ok, got it now! I was getting really worried I missed something that was going to kill this device. Obviously Moto locking things down is very frustrating since I love being able to change ROMs whenever I want, but with the way things are going, are we ever going to really truly get a D1 again?

I do agree with Preach about wanting an HDMI out and, for me, the lapdock is really an interesting feature for when I am sitting on the couch and don't want to fire up the computer or my laptop for a few minutes of web browsing.

Since our only source that this device will be out in May or even on Verizon is that leaked 'roadmap' I am still really hesitant to believe it. And I'm impatient and don't want to wait for the fall, haha. Thanks for the explanation Martin!

I'm still a bit hesitant to believe it too, but I believe CK noted earlier in this thread or maybe it was another that it would be coming in May.

At this point I still expect Bionic to drop late April and hope the S2 will drop beginning of May to give me a chance to play around with each phone. Though, I suspect my decision will be the S2.

I'd also like to get a phone and contract before VZW tiers their plans, but I think that'll be later in the year rather than sooner.

The biggest complaint I hear about samsung is the updates, or lack of updates. I personally love my fascinate. I love how sleek it is and the screen is beautiful.

i think the real issue here is whether it will be able to be rooted or not. i dont care about verizon's updates if i can just update it myself

wish the sii had the bionic's resolution
Super AMOLED Plus

"Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus displays are an upgrade to the company's first generation Super AMOLED. The new displays offer 50% more sub-pixels, and in fact use regular RGB matrix (as opposed to the Pentile Matrix used in the first generation displays). The displays are also thinner, brighter and more efficient (by 18%) than the old Super AMOLED displays.Using more sub-pixels means a clearer display - even though the resolution per-inch is actually lower. The resolution is actually lower per inch than previous AMOLEDs (a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus has the same resolution as a 4" Super AMOLED for example) - but Samsung plans to soon move to a new manufacturing process that will enable them to achieve 300ppi or more (pretty much the same as in Apple's Retina Display)"

Yeah, the resolution is a bit less than that of the Bionic, but apparently its clearer. I guess we'll have to try these out, since this is probably a preference thing.

i guess motorola's using a pentile lcd in the atrix and bionic so nevermind

Super AMOLED + is suppose to look amazing. They have also fixed the green blue hue in it. Samsung did their homework with this screen.

Yes the pentile LCD's will drive the staunchest technophiles nuts : )

Ya know, as soon as I got my Incredible, I put it under the microscope at work to confirm that the AMOLED screen was indeed pentile matrix, and got some nice pics. :)

Here's my post over on Android Forums...

PenTile matrix confirmed - Android Forums

While the AMOLED screen is great for its contrast and brilliance, the pentile matrix leaves a bit to be desired along side a true resolution LCD. SA+ will be a nice upgrade with this. IMO, it's unacceptable to use the pentile arrangement in LCD technology so the Motorola phones are out for me, and if rumor is true, so is the upcoming qHD HTC model.

Edit: Didn't realize you can't see the pic if you're not a member over there. Here's what it looks like in implementation...
