It does not matter to me.. If the Bionic or the S2 has a looked bootloader.. I do not root my phones.

We'll have to see. If Samsung does indeed look like they are about to be serious regarding the galaxy line, we should expect reasonably timely updates as they occur. Only reason I rooted this was to get froyo once and for all. Otherwise I use launcher pro anyways.

If using a pentile matrix screen means I get an extra few hours battery life, then it's more than worth it for me. Slightly lower resolution in exchange for higher battery life and an allegedly "sharper" screen? I will definitely have to test it out personally, but it seems to be a decent trade off.

I'm not sure how it would. Remember that with pentile matrix, there's an intermediate operation that takes the true resolution to be written and interpolates it to the non-standard pixel arrangement. There's some dithering going on there to approximate the image so I have to imagine that eats a few CPU cycles. Add to that, LCD power consumption is generally driven by the backlight, not the addressable matrix. The only benefit to pentile matrix qHD is that it seemingly is the only way to get higher resolution now versus the WVGA standard.

I am not into changing roms so if either is locked its not a big deal to me. As long as I can root and still do those things I am all good.

Judging by the other news jumping around, the days of rooting the phones may be coming to an end anyway. That sucks, but its the truth. And if I'm going to be stuck with stock, I want to make sure I have something that is as close to my idea of perfect as I like it up front.

I don't know if you guys have seen this, but apparently Samsung has trademarked the names "Galaxy Attain, Galaxy Function and the Galaxy Within". Presumably these names are for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. That's some pretty good circumstantial evidence for a Verizon s2!

I definitely wouldn't rule out Samsung if we find out they are definitely coming. All the pics and videos really are showing a very polished looking, professional piece of hardware. I think it really is going to be nice.

The Galaxy S 2 is the Ferrari of Android devices in 2011. You can't go wrong purchasing it. LG Optimus 3D is another heavy weight contender in 2011.

I gotta say that I agree with CK. I've been waiting for the Bionic, and if it's here first, I'll grab it. But it looks like the Galaxy S2 is the one to get!
