blur 3.4.2....

If you guys are interested in making 3.4.2 run even smoother, try this:

imoseyon: I Got a ZIP (imoseyon mods)

It is imoseyon's sysctl.conf mod for Droid X ROMs. If you choose to download it, make sure to download the one marked "Other(Darkslide, Fission, Stock, etc.)" on his website. Then, reboot into Clockwork using Koush's Droid 2 recovery bootstrap, backup your ROM, and apply imoseyon's zip WITHOUT wiping. You can wipe cache, if you want (I didn't), just don't go wiping the data partition or doing a factory reset. One note: flashing the zip seemed to "reset" my ROM in a way. All of my installed apps were gone and it made me go through the initial Android setup process again, but the system apps I had deleted were still gone. So make sure to backup your installed apps with something like Titanium Backup prior to flashing this zip. Luckily, I still had a recent backup.

I cannot say you will experience the same thing I did, but it definitely smoothed out a lot of the "stutters" I was experiencing in this build. Now it will be my every day ROM for sure. Haven't run it long enough to comment on battery life, but I can say it definitely hasn't made it worse. It's a nice mod for those of you who like to experiment and optimize your setups. Many thanks and all credit goes to imoseyon for this mod!

I want to but the "reset" makes me afraid to try..lol...can anyone else confirm a smooth install of the zip without a reset?

If you just backup your apps with "Titanium Backup" and your texts with "SMS Backup and Restore", you'll be fine. Those are the apps I use. It's kind of nice to have that security blanket anyway, in case something else goes wrong with your phone. It doesn't take long to backup everything, unless you have an insane number of apps.

One other thing I've noticed about the imoseyon mod is it seemed to increase touch response speed. Again, it could just be me, but it seems snappier in that regard. That's one thing that has always annoyed the hell out of me about Froyo in general is the very slight lag between pressing a button or icon and the system highlighting it. I think I heard it was a deliberate design decision by Google, but it was a poor one. Just being honest. Then again, they can be forgiven for making the most bada$$ phone OS on the planet. dancedroid

hmm, I had to remove all swype files, reboot, then download the beta installer, install the new swype, move the swype apk into system then from their I pulled it with adb and manually themed it with a previous swype I was using (liberty theme) only problem i have is on a reboot the library isn't synced so you switch to multi touch keyboard type something then switch back to swype and it works fine (for myself at least) unless i reboot. but the fix isn't to bad

If there's enough interest, I think I'll port my themes to 3.4.2. I've been running it since it leaked and it's been the most stable stock build for me yet. Let me know if anyone is interested. Check them out here Themes For Stock ROM - 2.3.340 - xda-developers

Yes please im running rubix blurry 1.8 with the galaxy x theme and love but I think I want to flash this

Hey guys, there was a bug in 4.1 of the zip that may caused this. You shouldn't run into this problem as long as you install the latest.

Same here as well. No resets with 4.2.

Anyway so far it's smooth and not so smooth, it could be the script but I'm not sure. After a day I got alot of stutter and slow downs even with 97mb free, I also use launcher pro..a restart fixed this though.

One of my MAIN stutter issue is when I'm typing a email or replying in the forum, after a few sentences the keyboard would start to lag terribly. I would press a key and it takes 10sec to register..very annoying when typing fast. it has happen with the DX Keyboard, swift key, htc ime and so on..even on stock and other roms.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix??

Hey Imoseyon, I noticed that you're running fission was just wondering your thoughts about it compared to liberty and Focused. Really love your post and thanks for all the awesome tips!

I ran this update for a week, really tried to like blur but I'm just bored with it. I got a few reboots and QC won't let me overclock past 946mh lol. I'm going to try the zip out as a last resort, otherwise I think I may sbf back and install Roms again.

I find overclocking just cause instability and a waste of battery..I've been fully stock with the above mod and everything is stable..no reboots.
