Car Talk

I drive a F350 Diesel, 4x with large mudder tires, about all the negative noise issues combined, and have the same Motorola unit. I tried about 6 others before choosing to stay with the Motorola. I liked it because it paired easily with the stereo so I could hear the other party on the truck speakers. As for sound clarity for the caller, that's a condition of the truck and with surround noise. I make it a point to not have lengthy conversation on the phone while driving the truck, in some aspects it's nice and it keeps the calls short. The use of a corded earpiece is about the only other item that is somewhat less noisy, any noise canceling function is going to make your voice sound hollow etc.
Maybe others have found a new unit that works better, but after trying so many and reading/watching so many reviews, the Roadsters seem to be the best at this point.

I think the distance between the unit and me might be part of the issue for the callers. There's really nothing close by to mount the speaker on and the cabin is really noisy between the tires and road noise. I love having my music come across that speaker. It actually sounds better than the stock speakers that came in my FJ. If I go back to an ear piece, my music will only come across it -- which I am trying to avoid. It seems like it should be a really simple fix, but I'm finding it's not. This time of year I do a lot of solo driving and spend a lot of time on the phone, so I really need to figure something out -- if possible.

Do you have a grab handle over the door? If so possibly you can fabricate a mount. The cabin in my F350 crew cab is huge, and certainly makes the voice distort.
Also if your visor swings from the windshield to the door, you can clip it on the end and swing the device towards you when you speak?

I just ran out to the parking lot to see what would happen if I lowered the side visor. The thing has two visors -- one up front and one above the side window. I am going to try the speaker hooked to the side visor with it flipped down and see if that helps. That puts the speaker AND mic right next to my face. If that doesn't work, I guess I need to look into a wired ear piece.
Thank you!!!

Are you talking at the same time? My mustang is connected via Bluetooth as well as my headset. When a call comes in I answer it, music stops, restarts when call is done.

Why wouldn't you hear music from the speakers?

Hope it works.
I used a jawbone BT that worked well, but I was always leaving it in the other car or at home, those work well, if you can remember to keep it with you.

My stereo is not sophisticated, so I only have a CD player and radio unless I plug my phone in with a cable to the audio jack. If I want to stream music from my phone into the stereo, that works great, but the distance between the phone and me makes it next to impossible for callers to hear me when I talk. Yes, the music does silence when I am on the phone, but it appears to be a cabin noise problem. Does that make sense?

Should I buy it?

That's what makes it worth buying. [emoji6]
(aside from a few exceptions of course)

It's my buddies flavor of the month, he's hunting for a sports car as he's nearing 50, and wanted my opinion, it's purdy though...
