Case with No Slide Out Keyboard Feature

just a thought but maybe with the cases could we see a slot for the speaker so its not covered up? seems like most of the cases cover it up and for as much as i use the external speaker it would be great to have an opening on it

i also like to point being brought up about the rough inside edge, id like my phone to stay in good shape, seeing as thats why we buy cases in the first place

1. Once our dummy phone arrives all of the appropriate holes will be made.
2. The inside of the case is very smooth

RotaryResurrection;160803 I'm referring to the idea that said:

As for returns/refunds on the product. If the case really doesn't fit or any issue arises just talk to me and we will work something out. However, once we get the design created and the mold made, all cases will come out the exact same regardless of color. This means if 9 of the 10 people say it fits great and the 1 other says no it doesn't fit I want a replacement, well we are going to need to see proven evidence of that issue.
Hmmm...not exactly as reassuring as I wanted, sounds like you're walking the fence on that one. You're expecting us to send you a significant amount of money for an item we won't expect to have for 4-6 weeks, can't hold or examine in person, and havent even seen any PICS OF FITMENT ON OUR SPECIFIC PHONE. But you want us to just trust that everything will be alright?

Based on the pics you've supplied this is a project being done in someone's garage, by hand, which is cool...but you can't convince me that 10 of 10 produced cases will be identical in fitment under those circumstances. By that token, your standard for judging quality by the opinion of other buyers doesn't seem completely fair.

I will have to think about this. I might just wait it out and see how the first batch turns out, perhaps some users will actually post pics of fitment on their phones so we can see what we are dealing with.

My concerns/questions are about:

--how will the inside liner of the case be? Will it be rough and rub/wear the coating off the back/corners/sides of the phone? Having installed some custom FG and CF parts on cars I have built, I know the back sides are usually left rough.

--how well will the top edge, adjacent to the screen, be smoothed/straightened? This will be the most noticeable part so it needs to be near perfect in my opinion.

--will the sides be straight and not wavy?

--how thick is the case material itself?

Wow i'm a bit aggravated now, not at you but the fact I just wrote about 10 minutes worth of typing and I must have accidentally held the shift key and pressed backspace, but anyways I lost everything I wrote.

On to your questions.

You are very maticulous on this, but that is important to me. The "wavyness" you see is actually all the cutouts for the volume, charger, other misc buttons; on the G1. The angle of the picture makes it look awkward but at least you asked :)

As for this being a garage project....absolutely not!!!!!!! The cases you see in all the pictures I posted were only sample cases before we began our business. If we didn't have a solid product I wouldn't bother wasting anyones time here. However, yes these sample cases were made in a custom shop.

This is how it works:

1.You place orders through me
2. I tell my producer all of the expectations and demand on the product
3. We get a dummy phone and inspect it and figure a design out
4. We talk to our manufacturer in California and send him our design and sample in which he creates a mold (this is how I can ensure you all the cases will be the exact same). If you know about molds you know that is how products are massed produced, an example is in the automobile world with aftermarket parts such as mirko splitters.
5 Our manufacturer sends us the product and it is forwarded to me (for these individual sales)

As for your experience with Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber, it may be a bit different than my producer. He has been working with Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass for 8+ years now, and he also has his own custom car shop where he makes custom CF dash kits, fiberglass back seat molds, etc. We mean serious business here.

As our business grows larger I will fill you in with details, but we are just taking lift off. You can expect to see products by us in your local cell phone stores very soon nationwide. This is why I am giving you all the opportunity to buy it at the cheapest price possible because it is through me and this was my idea.

I don't mind the questions at all so don't feel like you're attacking me.
for those of you who don't want to use the keyboard and want a tough case:

Motorola Droid Black Aluminum Case

Motorola Droid Silver Aluminum Case

All I have to say is its Aluminum. I wouldn't put something on my phone that I use to keep my food wrapped in the fridge. :p

RotaryRessurection. If you are referring to that black case for the G1 there might be something for you to consider :)

The G1 is an oddly shaped phone in which it is a flat back with the top 2 inches of the phone lifted up. If you look for the picture of the red case attached from the side view you can see what I mean. Basically the phone in a text perspective looks like this : \____ but the raise isn't as high as the slash, it was the closest comparison I could show. It makes for an odd looking case. The Droid however has a solid flat look so it will not be a problem. I hope that is the S pattern you are referring to.

I'm referring to the idea that, it looks like to me in that picture, the sides are uneven. In other words it looks like if you were to hold a straightedge up to each side there would be high and low areas. Like it is wavy instead of straight. Perhaps it is the lighting in the picture, but I swear it looks that way to me.

It also looks like the corners are not the same. One is more rounded off than the others. Again it could be just the lighting or the angle of the picture. I added some quick, sh!tty mspaint lines to help show what I am seeing.

Bottom line: great post and way to look out for buyers thinking about this purchase.
It seems NO warranty is expressed or implied sans his 9/10 analogy and no refund is purported to be made in case of such fitment issues should arise considering he just said, "if the case doesn't fit.. *WE* will work something out..."

I understand AND appreciate the efforts on behalf of the fabricator/engineer of this carbon fiber case...and idea. It is a good one.

However there are no solid/concrete tolerances in regards to reproduction accuracy...

There aren't any prototypes we can see up close (or hi-res) to ascertain OR exclude fitment issues based on the information given thus far.

Based on this I would be very apprehensive of this purchase.
Money isn't the issue here-it's principle.

As Rotary has stated, the pictures of the Google phone case do look off.

99.9% fitment for $60?
It's a tough call, Chris.

Would you be willing to make a prototype, furnish pictures on a droid covering ALL
angles/sides/fitment before purchase?

Unfortunately you aren't BesyBuy, there isn't a return period due to the materials/work involved so please understand we need a finished product before we can invest in your solution.

The refund/return thing I was talking about was because of how many scammers are out there. If there is really a problem do not stress because you will get your money back. The issue that concerns me is the people who will recieve their case, put it on, be astounded at how great it is, come on here and demand another one because it didn't fit but in reality just want another one.

The price we put into making this product for you guys is actually much higher than what we will recieve on the first end. Basically 10 people comes to $600. After this first batch if we send out the cases and they all end up being made improperly, we will be out that $600 that we return to the 10 people, as well as an X amount. It is a substantial amount that we would lose, we do not want to cause any problems.

5 more to go guys!

January 27th is the deadline remember so get your payments in.

Assuming that a run of 10 is paid for by your deadline, will there be another batch/group buy set up within a few weeks after that, in case I decide not to get in on the first batch?

I think the start-up cost is the big factor.

1. buying the dummy phone... not sure how much they go for...
2.designing the product
3.building the mold
4.making a test case and perfecting it.

after all that has been done it should be pretty easy to recreate cases using the mold. since EVERY case coming out of that mold should be IDENTICAL

Sorry I kinda disappeared guys, I've been sicker than hell for the last week or so.

Anyway, I see Chris has taken over this, and is taking up front payments for the cases. Great to hear. Due to coverage (believe it or not) switched to the dark side and went back to my iPhone.

Glad that I could get the ball rolling on this deal for you guys, and I'm sure that the quality will be top notch.

Good luck guys!!:)

Thank you for your question, after the first batch there will be more group buys. Another possibility is that if our website is up by then you can order them individually.

To clubdownforce our iphone case just shipped from CA so ill send you some pictures of that soon when I get mine and you can let me know if you are interested. :)

Thanks for your reply and your message.
This seems to indicate it's in your best interest to produce a case without any fitment issues and do appreciate you entering the case market with a real carbon fibre case.
