Coming Soon to a Droid near you!

Have you tried K-9 Mail off the market - it's free and works much better. You can also download Email Popup which pops each email up on the Droid and works very well.

I've never felt any gloom an doom owning my droid. i am happy with it and even more so cause it getting better.

Why the doom and gloom? The nexus one falls between the iphone and droid. The droid and nexus will both have 2.1 by month's end. But the droid still has the physical keyboard and the better network. Moto won't let the Nexus 1 sell for the same or less than the droid.

Verizon won't set up a situation that has two user groups bashing each other's device.

What if Verizon gets the iPhone? :icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

The Ipown is not even in the same class, so no comparison period. The general population want's crap handed to them, well it's handed to them in a basket but for a price. Open source is the future/now, and it truly fosters competition, from both providers and hardware manufactures. Will they support an open source phone/OS, they better or they'll be history tomorrow. Peace to all and all a Droid night!

Will it? Verizon isn't going to be like at&t and put up with jobs and co's crap. if apple makes a cdma that is on vzw's network, they won't get a cut of the monthly plans' revenue and they won't be able to have a high pre-subsidy price. does vzw really need the iphone? no. the popularity of the droid is bringing new subscribers in. verizon will get another big bump when the nexus is offered in the early 2dn quarter.

apple needs verizon more than verizon needs the iphone. at&t's network is crippling the iphone. if apple doesn't sign a contract with verizon by the end of the year, they are going to be in trouble. verizon is fine either way, and the android OS is free.

Also, I don't see iphone users and android users bashing on each other as much if iphone was on verizon because alot of the flak has been about the networks the phones are on.

There are always rumors floating around they will get it. They were orginally the first ones offered the iPhone but passed. I feel like with the Nexus and all the Android devices they are less likely. It's still always a possibility.

You vastly under estimate the loyalty of Apple FanBoys (however you want to spell it). Apple is in NO way hurting w/o Verizon. Their sales of the iPhone are still ridiculous and outpacing all similar phones (likely combined). If you look at the industry survey done a few weeks ago you'll see that iPhone users are quite content with the limits of AT&T's network. They are the only group to be 'satisfied' with AT&Ts service and offerings in general. The vast majority of them will not come to Verizon for ANY phone other than an iPhone (and likely it would have to offer something there current phone doesn't). Sure there are a few that are switching but most of them have no intention, or reason to come to the Droid or any other Android device. They have $$$$ of cash invested in songs and apps and, rightfully so have no desire to loose that investment. And the majority of them still consider the iPhone more 'savvy' and 'flashy' than any Android phone, something most self-absorbed Apple users consider quite important.

And as far as Apple needing Verizon more.... well, Apple's stocks are (or recently were) at record highs. The customer base is growing faster than any of their competitors. So how does Apple need Verizon? Verizon has far more competition to be concerned with. They really do need Apple if they are going to be able to pull ahead and dominate the market.

Disclaimer: And NO I am NOT an apple fanboy. I HATE APPLE. Owned one iPod and hated it (have 3 Zunes now, but I'm not a MS fan either).

? Can't edit previous post?

Addition: Loosing iPhone exclusivity would be a HUGE blow to AT&T. You'd be surprised how much of Jobs and Co. crap Verizon would put up with for that. If Verizon calculates that giving Apple what they want will a) generate enough business to offset the costs and/or b) stiffen their market position in the wireless market you can bet Verizon would bend over backwards. They are a business and in the end all decisions come down to the bottom line.

guys just upgrade my verizon blackberry world edition to motorola droid..and yes i didnt go for iphone.. anxiously waiting for mailman.. after reading this news its like a bonus to me !!

The last survey taken in Dec of which OS consumers would like to purchase next showed a HUGE jump in Android and a notable drop for Apple. No I don't think Verizon needs Jobs or Apple at all. I was a 16 year customer of ATT/Cingular/ATT and the Droid brought me to Verizon and I am just one of many.

I'm a true techie and I've never owned an Apple product in my life. I find that they are overly expensive for what you get. If the IPhone had come out years ago on Verizon instead of AT&T I would own one. And I would now be upgrading to the Droid (which I have).

What survey had iphone users satisfied with at&t? there have been surveys that iphone users are satisfied with their iphone, but i haven't see any saying the thing about their service.

Not every iphone user is an apple fanboy, the amount of users that will stick with an iphone no matter what is only one or two million. These are the same users that continue to buy apple computers more frequently than pc users, which is why apple's growth % is higher than other brands.

Verizon has compiters in their industry but they have the most users than any other us carrier. Their closest rival is at&t and that is only because the iphone bump; beyond that is sprint and t-mobile, yet they pose little threat to verizon. where is the competition for vzw?

apple on the other hand has Microsoft on the OS side, who has vastly deeper pockets to keep them under 10% marketshare for a very long time. On the hardware side, there a dozen of other computer makers. On the mobile side, there are another dozen handheld makers. Apple needs a better network to keep its iphone sales and app store numbers growing.

The stock prices for Apple reflects those that are speculating that Apple will be releasing a tablet pc that will be as popular as the iphone. The rumors are that verizon will be the carrier for that device, and I bet that is verizon is calling the shots on prices with that device because the alternative is at&t. verizon can play ball more than apple can at this time unless apple wants to just sell only macs again.

Couldn't agree more. I'm continually amazed at home much dough Apple Fanboys (AFBs) will spend just to have "the latest and greatest" Apple product. But they do, and will continue to do so. And those willing to jump ship for any reason are a very small minority. I know several AFBs and no matter WHAT I should them (desktops, laptops OSs) they are brainwashed. They are convinced that Apple is the best and noone can do better. That is one reason Apple can charge what they do and SO MANY people will gladly pay it. Just look at the number of them that bought ALL 3 VERSIONS of the iPhone.... I know at least a dozen, over a dozen more that bought at least 2 of them. Giving them a choice to jump to Verizon, especially with the offer of a "new & better" iPhone would bring them in droves.
