Considering switching to iPhone

Sorry the post cause some people to get bent out of shape. I was just explaining my situation.
1. I do not root or do anything fancy with my phone. Not that I would not know how but just don't need. I just need a good phone that works reliably that does not reboot and cause me to miss messages.
2. I do us data but I don't think I abuse it. I use online radio stations. I use my work Blackberry to tether and they pay for the service.

Update - New phone with no unusual applications rebooted twice that I know of on the first day out of the box from Verizon. The only thing running was Pandora or a internet radio program through Bluetooth headphones. I called and they said I had several blocks on VZ Apps and they thought that might be causing a data issue. You would think after all the calls they would have caught that before now if they thought it could be an issue. I am still looking for a good deal on an iPhone to try it. I just want something reliable.

If you are business user keep in mind the latest cancer studies listing the Droid X among the highest risk. Reason: great radio, the only phone that will work 8 ft. underground among 4 concrete walls!!!

My partner used an iPhone and switched to the Droid just so he can get calls at the farm. I told him to get the 20 ft. Yagi with dual amps on the barn but he's not technically inclined.

I use mine with BT so radiation not a concern, besides i lived 250 miles from Chernobyl when it blew up, a little nosebleed at the time, WTF, Darwin was right, what don't kill you makes you....:)

FYI, love my iPad, iPhone 5G coming out August-ish, if history repeats they will be available fro a few months 1/2 price straight off the assembly lines via the Hong Kong connection, unless FoxConn (Apple's assembler) terminates a few more "stressed out" employees via the rooftop procedure.

Junk science^

Does Pandora now come pre-installed? My guess is most reboots are caused by app bugs.

I would try and persist with verizon to let you upgrade to a newer device, such as the TB or DX2 (Without new contract). Apparently, some people have had luck with this. If you paid the original $200 price for the phone I think it makes perfect sense to upgrade to a new DX2 ($200) or a used TB ($200) Just my 2 cents but I have another DX coming tomorrow and I'm going to try and get the TB by next week, because I have had many problems since the latest update, and I am getting frustrated with the lack of support from Verizon for recognizing software issues.

Your warranty does not give you the right to a brand new upgrade. It's wrong to expect to get more then what you paid for.

I don't know what your "issues" are with your phone but I'm willing to bet that it's something you installed, or a lack of basic maintenance.

My brother just called me today with another issue with his Original Droid. Today I find out he's been using a task killer. No wonder he was having issues.

Factory data resets work wonders. Try it. And don't install thins your phone doesn't need.

Definitely stay with Android. Get the thunderbolt. I had a iPhone 4 for a month and hated it! ANDROIDS BETTER!

I totally agree with you there about the fact you don't deserve a brand new upgrade.
But I have been having reebooting issues since the GB update and I'm sick and tired of having phones with faulty software. BTW I don't use a task killer and I wipe cache every night.

How can you even consider an iphone after having a 4.3" screen..its 3.5" display is a joke....my brothers got the iphone 4,if you are a heavy user, expect to be on the charger 1/2 the day by the time the phone is 6 months old,the battery will be gone, just like his,and you cant do anything about it.Just SBF to 2.2,gingerbread is a joke, battery life is terrible,it is unstable, and wasnt ready for release, but they released it anyway.

This is incorrect. I have a iPhone I use ALL the time. My D1 last about 8hrs with EXTREME use. The iPhone lasts about 17!!! My incredible lasted less than 6hrs and the Thunderbolt lasts less than 4hrs...

When trying to positively spin Android over iOS you shouldn't talk about battery life...
Hell, my iPad runs 10-12hrs on a charge and it has a pretty big screen....

I guess it all depends on what you do with it. Sure they don't have as many apps to tweak your phone as much as droids but you can customize is to your liking. I wouldn't say its a stock droid because you can't have different page animations, sms changing and a few other things. Anyways I'd say if you aren't happy with your android phones then sure try out an iphone you might get the same results with it as you would with a droid. But its what makes you happy is all that counts good luck!

If you think that the iphone 4 is any better than android with reboots, then google iphone 4 rebooting.

Are you using the same memory card on all 3 droid x's? I have noticed that the memory card seems to be a factor. You said you formatted it, but have you tried a different one? I am using a adata class 6 16gb card now, and it seems to be fine, the only time it reboots is randomly every once in awhile, and when the screen is on suspend mode and I put it into the dock, almost everytime, but if I have it powered on then it is all good.

Also about the iphone being better than android, it is personal taste, if you google iphone 4 rebooting you will see a bunch of threads on it, they are not perfect, I think they are just held to a different standard than android. Everyone seems to compare android to apple, but hardly ever the other way around, they tolerate it, like apple is the de-facto standard and everyone else needs to fall in line.

My personal reasons for not using a iphone are, proprietary connector, I enjoy having the same charger for my headset, phone, kindle, etc, external memory card, I have had a few co-workers have to jump into the pool with there phone on them (kid decided to jump in and doesn't know how to swim) and the phone was toast, but the memory card still works fine, and choice of hardware, and last reason.... Ability to switch out phone from anywhere, and not have it tied to a computer. I know apple is including this feature in the future, but for now, it is tied to the computer. Just the other day, one of my co-workers needed to charge there iphone, no iphone chargers around, plenty of micro usb chargers, but no iphone chargers.

As for the battery life debate, to me, whatever, it's a smartphone, everyone I've ever had has sucked battery faster than a feature phone. I have read in other places that application efficiency is something that is being worked on now, it will go a long way towards battery life.

The iphone is just so boring. Apple does really take care of their buyers compared to the Android companies in terms of support and upgrades.
