For people whose settings don't stick...Try switching out of global mode. It seems whenever I switch to global mode to get working wifi, after a reboot, settings don't stick. Switching back to cdma/evdo auto seems to fix this. It also might fix some battery drain . This might have changed since it's a trick from the 7-27 build, but it's worth a try.
Got a question I am running cm7 I believe its the 8/4 build. I wondering why when I hit the power button to turn the screen off my blacklights still on. Is there a setting or something? I feel that's why my battary lifes been so bad latly.
Perhaps try an older build like 8-2/11. Normally I'd update nightly but it's better to just find a build that works for you at this point and then stick with it until the next major fix. If the backlight is still a problem, do a nand restore, see if it persists on a different rom or two. If it still persists, then that might be a hardware problem.
I read on revnumber's nightly page that camera is no longer mirrored! When will that be included in the rom? I'm concerned that I will screw something up if I try to mess with the nightlies.

I can say 100% you CANNOT break the camera in the nightlies. I have tried copying over at least 25 libs to MIUI and still have not fixed the camera flip... So evidently it was fixed well. It is probably something that needs to be added at compile time.
