[ROM] CyanogenMod 9 [BETA] (DX) (8/19)

So, I assume this CM9 Beta for DX is dead since 13th Angel is on Gummy now? I was really liking this. It has been my daily driver now with little to no restarts. In fact, I have been on the 2-21 build since it came out. Read about issues with newer builds and stayed happily behind. I guess I will try Gummy. Getting mixed reports from you all. Some say it is the same as this Beta, other say it is Apex like. I guess I won't know until I try.

No both roms are still being developed. The reference to apex is just the name of the ics launcher that's on gummy. It should be in the market or google it to see a description of the launcher.

It works i just gave it a try.

One problem I was having with both this new one and the old cm9 on this thread is that chomp sms is rendering oddly. Its nothign huge but, on the screen with all my contacts in chomp the lines that go across are broken in the middle.

Any ideas whats up with that?

Yeah i see what you mean about the broken divider, if you didn't say anything about that i probably wouldn't of noticed it if i had just installed it for myself lol... Not sure why it's like that but like you said not a huge issue.

CAMERA! Works great with the stock app now as well as being consistent.

Hey all!

I have been following this thread for months now. Currently i am on CM7 or 8? idk im pretty much a noob with all of this. Anyway I would like to put this On my droid X i see the instructions on the OP but they arnt very descriptive and i see people on here all the time having little installation issues, i was wondering if someone could just put some very precise necessary in-depth instructions on what exactly to do to put this on the droid x. I'm going to give it a shot just from the instructions in the OP but im not sure what will happen. Thanks and much appreciated.

Here's a detailed walkthrough on how to install CyanogenMod 9 for the Droid X

1. Download the CM9 ROM and Gapps and place them on the root (highest directory) of the SD card

2. SBF to .602 or .605 Gingerbread http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-rooted-help/100038-complete-droid-x-sbf-flashing-guide.html https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/droid-x-sbf-files (This will completely wipe your phone so be sure to run Titanium Backup and make a nandroid backup before you do it). The first time it boots after this, it will probably bootloop. That's okay. Pull the battery, boot into recovery and do a cache wipe and data wipe https://motorola-global-portal.cust...ail/a_id/48517/~/droid-x---factory-data-reset

3. Root your phone [ROOT][HOW TO] Win/Linux/OS X [Latest DX .602/.605]

4. Download the Droid 2 Bootstrapper and ROM Manager from the Market. Flash ClockworkMod Recovery in ROM Manager and then Bootstrap Recovery in Droid 2 Bootstrapper.

5. Press Reboot Recovery in Droid 2 Bootstrapper to reboot to CWM Recovery.

6. Using the volume buttons to navigate the menu and camera button to select, wipe the cache partition, dalvik cache (under 'advanced') and then factory reset.

7. Select 'install zip from SD card>choose zip from SD card>cm9rom.zip

8. Same as above, but install the Gapps instead

9. Use the back button to return to the main menu and then select 'reboot system now.' Congratulations, you just installed CyanogenMod 9. It might take a little while to boot the first time so be patient.

... like right now i am rooted. do i need to reset everything? unroot.. like i dont even know where to begin. Thank you!

You don't need to unroot. Just reboot into recovery wipe data, cache, and dalvik. Then flash. Make a nandroid back up of your phone first.

sent from my rooted bricked sbf'd rooted again and flashed DROIDX

20 minutes on the Moto logo sounds like something got messed up, like low said if you didn't wipe data that's why.

i wiped everything.. Followed a few tutorials.. so im pretty sure i wiped everything.
now what do i do?

If you can't get past the boot logo then follow the guide I wrote before, it'll get you where you need to be. That's how you flash any ROM (not all of them need Gapps though).

Doing the SBF will bring you back to stock MotoBlur Gingerbread so from there you can root and flash whatever you want.
