[ROM] CyanogenMod 9 [BETA] (DX) (8/19)

Hi guys. I've searched but can't somehow find an answer.

I am running the 4.0.3 build and I have downloaded a lot of things/customized a lot of the homescreens to make everything exactly how I like it.

What would be the easiest steps to take from beginning to end (im kind of a noob when it comes to messing with Android, I just recently switched from using iOS since it was released in 2007) to update to the
4.0.4 build and getting everything back to how I've gotten it? It took me hours to get it this way and I'd hate to lose all that work just to update.

I REALLY appreciate anybodies input on this. You'd save me a LOT of headache

Everyone who has worked on this, THANK YOU x1000 for all your hard hard work. Without you guys, all of our Droid X's would be a lot more boring ;)

Love you all for your dedication to our handsets.

Peace&Love

-Sam

I'm rather new to this as well. But I had 4.0.3 on and to upgrade to 4.0.4, all I did was:
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Wiped cache and davlik
3. Flashed the 4.0.4 ROM
4. Flashed GAPPS (just in case)
5. Rebooted

This worked for me. I think others have had problems going from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 though.

can someone help me with adding Apex launcher as a system app?

i dont use adb much but its says you should be able to do it within a root browser? how do i move the apk if i install it from market?

Move it from /data/app to /system/app, Titanium Backup among other apps can do this for you.

jrummy16's app manager will do this too. It is a stand-alone app and also a part of ROM Toolbox. idk if the Pro version of either is required for this particular function; I use ROM Toolbox Pro. Only App I have purchased and it is totally awesome. As roms get better with more options, I find myself using it less, though. At the same time that app replaced about 6 others for me.

For the record, using Fix Permissions from ROM Manager = restoring a nandroid backup. It totally hosed my system when I did it.

Really? Thats ironic, it is supposed to fix FC's, not make things worse. I don't think I've tried it from ROM Manager, but it has worked from ROM Toolbox, I'm pretty sure. That was also on GB, so maybe some things changed so it doesnt work right on ICS? Or maybe you had bad luck?

Just downloaded the 4/03 version with gapps. Coming from a CM7 Droid X, I followed the instructions: wiped data/factory reset, flashed the two files in order, then reboot.

I'm now stuck at the white "M" logo, the phone won't get to any CM boot screen. Any advice?

Is this issue based on the fact that I'm coming from the .340 instead of .602 or higher?? Thought it would be a simple upgrade from CM7.

Problem!

Well I have noticed that this is still a beta and there are problems with it, I went through the installation of the rom knowing this. But I have encountered a huge problem that has recently just happen and now it will not even work. The problem is the phone will not make calls sort of. When I try to make a call it goes black and then shows this message saying that the some process has stopped, something like that. BUT when you see the message you can hear and talk on the phone until you hit OK on the message, and the message is transparent so you can see the home screen. But instinctively when you see a error message you just hit OK to close it out so you would never know that you could still talk to someone that way. I only noticed because the person picked up the phone really fast and I heard them talking. Strange?

I Know that I should re-install but I'm lazy and I don't feel like backing up all my stuff and installing all my apps and tweaking all the settings all over again. I do mention I just had this rom for little over 20 hours. So is this a common problem or something. Your help is greatly appreciated.
