[ROM] CyanogenMod 9 [BETA] (DX) (8/19)

i did but when i booted into the OS i didnt see them appear, so i just restored my apps from a tibackup i made. would flashing gapps set the hardware buttons correctly ?

I would start over and wipe data and cache partition then flash the rom followed by gapps all in the same session then you should be fine.

that's what i forgot to do ... i flashed gapps after a reboot into cmw after i flashed the updated rom. but it's a real pain going and configuring my settings all over again each time i flash a rom. i have all the green items in Tibackup backed up, but other settings i have to do manually.

when it Tibackup, is it ok to backup everything, including all the red items (system) ?

has anyone used the encrypt phone feature yet ? i want to use it but need to be sure it's stable and good to use on the DX with any of the cm9 builds ?

i reverted back to the 4/24 build, aside from the browser freezing sometimes, the phone works good, no other issues.

Yes its ok to back things up with titanium but only restore apps and apps data don't restore system apps or data. If you have the paid version of titanium it's simple to restore your apps cuz you can restore them as a batch instead of one by one and also whatever launcher you use go in the launcher settings and back it up that way you can just restore that once your on the rom and your screens will be setup the way you had them minus the widgets which you'll have to add back on yourself.

even with the 6/21 build my stock browser freezes .... the loading bar is always stuck and can't really load anything. after a reboot it works for a bit then the same crap again ...

It looks like firefox and dolphin work

would be a nice OS to have on the X but some bugs still present it seems.

Yeah it's still beta so everything isn't perfect yet, but overall it's pretty solid. Don't know about the browser issue but i automatically use dolphin on every rom. I don't even try the stock browser's because dolphin has never let me down yet so i just stick with that.

i hear ya ... i like to stick with built-in apps that come with android for their integration with the rest of the OS but sometimes i like 3rd party apps better. dolphin is good ...

the problem seemed to be a setting that i made under performance, i enabled allow purging of assets. after i disabled it, facebook loaded up (whereas before it was stuck at loading) ....

as for browsers, im seeing this issue with both stock and dolphin now ... progress bar reached near the end when pulling up a site like Droid-Life, but stopped there.

its strange. maybe some script on the site is causing the phone to hickup

Hello! I seem to be having trouble with these builds - I'm eternally stuck at the motorola logo after flashing. I've SBF'd a few times, wipe data/cache, and then install the 6/22 build with GApps following. I have the 30.04 bootloader (which might be the problem?) and am using the Droid 2 (yes, that's not a typo) Bootstrapper to access clockwork recovery. Perhaps one of the knowledgeable in this thread have an inkling on what I might be doing wrong?

(I apologize if this is redundant - I still have quite an amount of replies to still read.)

Oh yes, the SBF I'm using (VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf) is also something on my mind - perhaps this file is too outdated to be used?

Also, do not use Droid2 Bootstrapper after flashing any 2nd init roms (includes CM7 and CM9). You can use it while still on stock to get to a 2nd init rom, but if you try to use it while on a 2nd init rom, it will mess things up. You can update the CWR from within ROM Manager, and you can boot to it from the power button menu.

This build should fix the WiFi issues.

No you always need to wipe data and cache. If not it can really mess things up
Partially correct. Wiping the cache is required, wiping data is not (but tends to have better results). I just flashed the 6/23 unofficial build over the 6/22 build with only a cache wipe. I normally do a full wipe, but I had JUST gotten everything setup again. ROM Toolbox Pro has an option to backup misc. data, which is really nice for restoring settings and such.

CM9 will probably never be out of beta for the DX. Between having a locked bootloader and only having Gingerbread binaries from TI, these builds will always be a hack-job, albeit, a very, very awesome and continually polished hack-job.

If you choose to wipe data you can always restore everything the way it was by going in clockwork recovery once on the rom and selecting backup and restore then select advanced restore. Next you'll select which backup you want to restore so just select your cm9 backup then you'll select restore data. It will then restore everything just the way you had it. (Don't forget to make a Nandroid backup of cm9 before installing the new build so you can have the backup to restore)
Edit... New build should be available sometime today.

Excuse my ignorance, how is this different from just not wiping data?
