It's really personal preference...I love LauncherPro, but some would call me crazy and swear by ADW...
I don’t think either is specifically better or worse with DarkSlide...

hi everyone...just wanted to give my .02 on darkslide...tried it from Rubix 1.9.5 and i think i am going back. It is an excellent ROM and nicely done but even the blurless version had to much blur for me. I did notice a few things in my test run that I thought I would mention...in the facebook app under settings, the text was impossible to read...the color scheme was appeared white on white with some green mixed in, handcent settings were the same way until I switched it to black then it was fine. I do prefer the black google talk over stock. For me..battery life was better on Rubix and overall speed is as well. BBcrackman and Gatesjunior did an excellent job on the ROM and if they ever build a vanilla ROM I will give it another shot.

No I don't use it. Don't like Taskillers at all.
I'm sure theirs that they add with the ROM is
tweaked a little different, but I still choose not
to use it. JMO

Ok so after much much reading about this I think I'm ready to try my first ROM and Darkslide is getting pretty good reviews from almost everyone.
I currently have Astro File mgr, Titanium BU, rooted using Z4
Is there anything I need prior to doing this.
Do I need bootstrap? or any other apps?
And can someone include a link that give this Noob, Rom Flashing for dummies instructions?

Just make sure your up to date bootloader wise. You will need to install
Darkslide v4.1 first, then apply the 4.2 update. I suggest if you need any
further help ask over at My Droid World. JMTownsend is on it when it comes
to questions and concerns. He also peeks in over here. This is a top of the
line ROM. Let me know if you need anything.
You definitely need Bootstrap Recovery for Droid X.
Do NOT use ROM Manager to install. Know issues with that.

Follow the instructions on it to install the ROM. Make a nandroid backup first.
