Not sur ebaout boot loader but I knwo my version is 2.3.340

Nandroid back up is that an app?? Find it on the market?

I read somewhere in the threadh of issues with titanium backup is that still the case or do I need to remove TB??

No a nandroid backup is a system image (backup of your current setup).

You need the Bootstrap Recovery for Droid X app from market to make a

nandroid backup. The second link I gave you shows you step by step how

to do that with the Bootstrap app.

Your bootloader should be fine. If you want to know how to check it let me

know and I will explain.

AFV - scary alien? Is that what I need for nandroid back up?

Nevermind just saw your second link and kicked myself for being a dummy... I thought nandroid was an app

It will say "Droid X Recovery Bootstrap" by ClockworkMod.

Yes it will have a little alien on the app icon that will say

XRecovery under it.

ok so now I am a littl confused

I downloaded and ran the droid x bootstrap program
The device rebooted

Do I still need the AFV or am I good to flash the rom??

also on the first link you gave me I clicked thee link for the blurred Darkslide Rom and a spearate window pops up but nothing happens. I tried the same thing for the blurless and same thing.

Any ideas??

edit** just for sheetz and giggles I trieed to download the darkslide update fromt he same thread and the same thing happens...is there something wrong with the up load????

What are you referring to when you say "AFV?"

And if it just flashed it doesn't open anything. check

your Windows Downloads folder and I bet the file zips

are in it. You downloaded the files

And when you open the Bootstrap app, hit the top button

till it says "success" and hit ok. Then the bottom button is

what you hit to reboot into Clockwork and make your nandroid.

Did you check out the instructions on the second link I gave you

at Droid Life?

yes I did. and followed those instructions.

I thought that nandroid was an app from the market and in the market when you search "nandroid backup" a app shows up that is called AFV with a little green alien icon. That was before I did the bootstrap recovery as instructed. I think I cuased the confusion here.

I will check some of the files to see if it downloaded

I have downloaded stuff before so I am familiar with that, but I ma not seeing the files (zipp) anywhere. Desktop or other files crap but I'll keep looking

OK finally got the download screen with progress bar. I know my connection here is bad but its taking forever and there is still about 6 minutes left to get the zip file

Away from my comp now. Don't rush the flashing of the ROM. Like I said you need to be at My Droid World on the Darkslide thread for installation and questions. Read directions you should be fine.

I use ADW because thats what came with DarkSlide

I've Noticed that there is a task manager app in my app drawer does anyone else have this app and are you using it....is it running in the back ground and is it draining my battery?

You know, I saw this on a stock phone in VZW as well...I think it's Google's answer to the whole Task Killer question? Perhaps I am wrong... anyhow, it won't hurt you, but if you want to remove it, I believe Gates said that is fine...
