Any ideas on why USB/Charge only does not mount SD card?

What exactly do you mean? I have mine always set to "USB Mass Storage." But I just tried plugging it in, it unmounted my card, so I chose "Charge Only" and it mounted the card back up for me. So I'm not following.

I'm choosing "Charge Only" and it will NOT mount the SD card back up. Doesn't have anything to do with USB debugging on, does it?

My USB debugging is always on, so it shouldn't.

Only started behaving like this after installation of MOD.

Changing to "PC Mode" got the desired effect of charging and mounted SD card, so I guess that is my workaround.

By "MOD" do you mean after the installation of the ROM?

And have you unmounted it physically, by going to settings/SD card & phone storage, then

taking it out and putting it back in?

ROM yes, sorry, too much shoveling today! I will try physical removal.

Ok, gotcha. Yea try that. But if it will charge in PC mode I would just do that.

Yeah, didn't work with physical removal/re-installation. Oh well, not a biggie.

Hey I noticed that in the list of features it states "pre rooted".... so does that mean that if I flashed the "maderstock340" zip to put it back to stock, can I just flash the DS zip and it will root my phone and install DS? or am I just hoping for too much?

no you will have to root prior to installing ds

Unfortunately, no. Cause you need to be rooted in order to get into clockwork to install the ROM.

Thanks guys... last question is if I chose to use RSD and SBF....starting from scratch, but my device doesnt show up in RSD....what do I do? (current situation why I'm asking)....

RSD 4.8, and @ gmenfan83, I remember using the moto drivers long ago when I last used RSD (MANY months ago...I'm sure I will need updated ones) but I cant find instructions on how or where to install the drivers...there was an article before explaining everything in detail but I cant find it now....
