Does anybody actually like their Droid X?

I am a geek's geek. I love having the latest technology and pushing it to its limits. New to the world of Android, I got my DX on a Wednesday and had it rooted by Saturday of the same week. I devour sites like this one and avid read all the latest on gadgetry posted by Engadget, infoSync, BGR, Gizmodo!), Wired (even a hardcopy subscription!) etc and watch all the latest tech reviews on youTube. My love affair with touchscreens started with my XV6600, then the XV6700, then the XV6800. Next I went to a Samsung Omnia, the a BB-clone called the HTC Ozone and then the BB Storm 1 and 2. I bought a certified pre-owned Samsung Omnia 2 but it just didn't do anything for me so I returned it for full credit. I went to the corporate store and played with the Droid 2, Incredible, and X for three nights (until they finally kicked me out - kidding!). When VZW told me I was eligible for an early upgrade and recommended the X over the Samsung Fascinate, I jumped at the deal they offered. Been smiling ever since.

im very disappointed in my dx. i loved my dinc but the reception and battery life issues forced me to the x. the batteries a lot better sure, reception? eh...seems about the same. other than that i hate it. bulky, always freezes, never syncs accounts, etc. i hope verizon will eventually carry an android phone that doesnt suck.

luv my dx for multimedia purposes and browsing, but it doesnt come close to blackbery in msging and emailing

I'm going to be switching from my BB Storm at the end of the week. I wanted to get a Droid X. I came here to read up on it but, it seems everything I read is about the problems it has. Should I skip the Android line all together?

Did you baught it yet?

Picked up an X a couple months back....

I really need Java inside the browser, but other than going nuts trying to sync to a PC (ended up upgrading Outlook and buying "Missing Sync"), it's a much better phone than my old Samsung Omnia, which really isn't a bad smartphone (Windows Mobile 3 and does support Java!). An old iPaq also worked well on the web via WiFi....

Battery life was awful until I figured out how to set a profile, and to be careful how I holstered the thing - the leather holster I have can turn the fool thing on - it thinks it's in the car dashboard holder....

The other weekend, the phone part simply refused to work. Outgoing calls didn't happen, and incoming calls just sort of paged me. The brain finally started to work on the following Monday and I re-booted. End-of-problem.

However, the fool thing seems to need more re-boots than that Omnia, which seems kind of strange since the Android isn't Windows :D....

Overall, happy camper. The Omnia was actually a fine phone - the upgrade, in part, was due to the "new every two" plan at Verizon plus it being about time for a new battery. But the engineers who designed the Omnia apparently never actually tried to use one. The Droid X doesn't seem to suffer from that.

I still may grab the bigger battery - otherwise, no issues. I really don't care for the camera, but I'm a little spoiled - the one in the Omnia was about as good, and I've got a couple of "real" cameras that are better. But it is handy....

Now, does anybody know why the fool FM radio part won't work without the headphones plugged in? Seems kinda silly if you want to sit it on the nightstand in a hotel or some such.

Regards,

Stu.

You're wire off the headphone is you're antana too thats why isn't working without them. Back then and i don't know about now walk man (with built in radio) used headphone cord to tranfer sound and also is you're antana. And i guess
having two antana might conflict to another? Or not enough room? Or
motorola wanted us to get creative running even longer wire for better
sound. LOL I don't know the reason why they don't include a antana.

The Dx is my first Droid and I love it. It has, for the most part, replaced my laptop and ipod. I've had no problems with it.

The Omnia had WM 6.1 not 3 and I had to soft reset my Omnia every friday to keep it working properly, I am not rebooting my X every week and I have more running on it than I did on the Omnia. The thing the Omnia had over both androids I have had is battery life (could charge once a week instead of every day) and the camera, that camera was just awsome

Looks like I'd have to root and get a ROM to download that. I don't even know what a ROM is. Pretty sad considering I'm only 27. I'll have to read more on that before I even think about doing something like that. Although, I do like the idea of being able to wireless tether for free if I root it. I'm just not that techy, I guess.
