Does your Moto Droid act like it's "possessed"?

My case wasn't one of your options, so I'll add my data point here:

Moto Droid (purchased Jan 2010), never rooted. Fine until I bought a Verizon "universal" car charger, then the Droid "possession" began. Factory reset fixed it. Returned the car charger and only use the Moto wall charger; Droid's been fine ever since.

Mine went crazy again last night. It was on the wall charger (Motorola) for about two hours. All of a sudden it was like someone was trying to unlock it, both buttons on the lock "charging" screen were moving. I unplugged it from the charger and then it got real crazy. It started going though my call history list stopping at a contact then on to the contact edit page. I did a battery pull and five minutes later it went nuts again. This time it opened the contact list picked a contact and started writing an email with mainly the letters R & X. Did another battery pull............again it went crazy, opened my music app (stock) and kept trying to play songs. This went on for almost an hour. Finally I pulled the battery and let it sit until this morning, put the battery back in and it seems normal.
The phone is stock not very many apps and running 2.2. I wonder what Verizon is giving out as replacements?

THIS IS FRIGGIN STRANGE

Mine is only like this when plugged into a wall, but never has happened before, just happened today. Using other manufacturer one

3g disappears and reappears a lot, but I'm still able to connect at all times. Also during weird times of the day it will start yelling DROID even though I don't have any apps or anything running. Nothing of note as of now, worth taking the phone back where I bought it. Just wish the phone would stop becoming self aware.

My Droid has been doing this for ever now. No matter the situation it is always doing it. It does all that has been described by others and then some. It is completely stock and to be honest I don't even know what rooting is. I only use my stock Moto charger, and I have done a factory reset several times. The really messed up thing is Verizon had sent me out a new one, stock 2.2 which i recieved on Tuesday this past week. The moment I started the replacement up it started in with its crap. it doesn't make much sense to me at all. How can this happen to 2 different phones both of which I have done nothing to, no ROMs, Kernels, and no other chargers but my Moto.

Had the issue along time ago when I was flashing different roms everyday trying to find one I liked. Been with BB .v then went to FLY 1.6 was fine until yesterday.. Started off perfect and while I was at work started going crazy.. I've done everything, gone back to stock, put different rom/kernel and tried everything.. Called verizon yesterday and hopefully have a new driod monday! hopefully it'll be a d2 but I love the openness of the d1

Fixed it finally... replacement coming tomorrow.. nonetheless. I did factory reset, installed 2.01, upgraded to 2.1 rooted, and installed Liquid 1.6 black again and works flawlessly. I dont think its a rom/kernal problem becasue I tried everybody before going back to stock.. BB0.4 w/ chevys kernel, and about every kernel I could try.. I think its linked more to overclocking maybe? I had this problem once before (sure didnt last two days) and I fixed it by uninstalled SETCPU then reinstalled it..

Oh well.. atleast I refreshed myself on rooting and everything that goes along w/ it so i will be ready monday when I get my new driod :)

Possessed

I have had the same problem twice now. I only use the stock charger and have modded the Droid in any way. The first time it happened I was confused and brought it in and got a refurbished Droid which was back in April. Yesterday the Droid started doing the same thing and I suspect I will just get another refurbished one. I have looked online and seem a lot of other people have had this problem and I agree it has to be a hardware problem of some kind. I am wondering if anyone who bought the Droid 2 is or has experienced this problem

Today I drove into the city (took about 40 minutes) with my droid1 using google maps. charging the whole time. (motorola charger) The phone was really hot and after I was at my destination for a few hours the phone became possessed. The lock was hard to open, screen and buttons were not responding. It randomly kept opening apps and once it opened facebook and tried to email someone gibberish. I've pulled the battery several times and it is still possessed. I will be taking it to the verizon store this morning. This is my second D1.

I am almost thinking it has to do with overclocking/setcpu but that is a shot in the dark. Got my replacement Tuesday, came with 2.2.. downgraded it, rooted it and installed liquid 1.6 and set it back to 600min 1000max and NO PROBLEMS since this replacement..

possessed touch screen

I got my replacement phone today. Can't activate it because the touch screen won't let me type in my phone number. Nice!:blackdroid:

I've had these issues in the past. I think that it has to do with the battery and the way it charges/runs current. I was thinking that if I tried a different battery that it might act different. I never tried a different battery because my phone started acting better and I haven't had a problem since then.
It might also be an app that doesn't agree with the phone(that runs in the background).

To the guys that got a replacement phone - did Verizon test your possessed phone before giving you a replacement? Did they give you another Droid 1 (to any of you who replaced your phone just recently) or a different droid? And did they want the original possessed phone back?

When my phone was acting up it was around the time that they announced that they was gonna stop selling the Droid 1. When they first announced it they also said that they was only going to replace the phone with a Devour, Ally, or Eris. Since then they changed that statement but I'm not sure as to how many original droids they have in stock these days.
