Does your Moto Droid act like it's "possessed"?

I usually have this problem when my hands are went and I try to text or unlock it. Mine starts pressing letters on my screen and wont stop. When I hit the back button its starts again its usually the letter "f" that its getting "possessed" it's sooo annoying!

Just got off phone w verizon. after explaining all the same problems u guys have and being repeatly asked if i dropped my phone or got it wet or downloaded any apps from other than market and jus to be sure am i absolutely sure its never been dropped. I mean really as if this is the first they hv heard of this. of course verizon was unable to trouble shoot it over the phone so she transfered me to tech support who 5 min later told me i would hv to bring it to the verizon store. ughhhhhh i swear if they even attempt to give me a refurbished phone i will sit on their sales floor until they give me a new one and if they threaten to call the police ill gladly hand them my droid to dial them with...opps o wait its too busy scrolling and opening apps u wont b able to call them sorry

Ever since the 2.2.1 update OTA, I haven't had no problems. I don't use the phone anymore but I still use it over WiFi occasionally.

my droid 1 did this when it gets hot and humid outside, or when in my jeans front pocket and i get sweaty. it goes all crazy, scrolling screens, pressing icons, typing some crazy url's...

now i have a droid 2 replacement phone, and after about 6 month this one started doing the same thing.

I was out on a sailboat yesterday, it was about 85-90 degrees out and the phone was on a desk inside the boat, and was unusable the whole day. at times i couldnt even unlock it or pick up a phone call.

called verizon, and they are overnighting me a replacement droid 2.

I have seen this issue.

Happened when I had a skin on it, once I took it off it went back to being ok. Personally I think some of the issues have to do with flexing of the phone case, applying pressure to the screen. I bet water/high humidity and higher temps will occasionally trigger.

I did try the official verizon case with the magnets. Stupid design and I ended up not using it (thx verizon for nothing) and it sites on a shelf.

So hardware related, and I think it has something to do with the screen, or the software that drives the touch screen.

I had this issue happen for the first (and only) time while I was traveling. I was plugged into the usb charging port at the San Jose airport, and my droid was absolutely freaking out. It literally acted as if possessed. Finally, I decided to unplug it, and plug it in a normal outlet and it was fine. So in this case, it was caused by the usb charging port.

MOTOROLA DROID POSSESSED and LOOKING FOR ANSWERS

Interesting,

Having experienced a progressively possessed original Droid over last couple week, and now it has reached point of throwing it out, I stumbled upon this forum looking for answers.

No doubt, I am not alone, and all the descriptions seem to be so similar it is scary. I first thought it might be moisture issue given high humidity really seemed to kill it, make it unusable, but having followed many of the tips on putting it in bowl of rice overnight, hair dryer, super clean screen with alcohol, etc., it has seemed to ease up, but still is not 100%.

Looking at all my options, including free upgrade now available, I just hate to throw away such a good phone which looks perfect, babied, and really not used above average, I am seeking options. If I take upgrade, I have to sign another 2 yr. contract, and this is what I didn't want to do for I am not crazy about Verizon to begin with. Is new Droid X a better phone, or is iPhone? Is there a better phone on the horizon? Or should I purchase digitizer and try to fix it myself? Anyone know of YouTube link with instructions on repair?

Thanks, Mike

This issue started with my about 2 weeks ago. Can't deal with it anymore, so I'm about to go with a ThunderBolt. The OG has been good to me except for these spirits...

I have had two instances with my phone acting possessed; the first happened a month ago, after I held my phone in my bra for a couple hours while working. It was relatively hot/humid out, so it probably got damp. I couldn't type anything, and every time I slid the keyboard open I would get a never-ending loop of characters. It cleared itself up by the next morning, and all was fine.

The second happened yesterday. I was rinsing a stain off of a shirt, and I got two drops of water on the little thumb pad. I couldn't use the thing at all for awhile. It would constantly open applications and attempt to open others, like someone was touching the screen constantly. It has now cleared up and is usable, but all of a sudden my power button is not functioning; I cannot lock the screen or unlock using the button. I have to unlock by sliding open the keyboard, and shut off by removing the battery... sucks.

Pretty sure it's related to water. It has happened to me several times and a battery pull usually fixes the issue.

My wifes Droid AND my first Droid BOTH did this.

Stock everything.
Verizon replaced my Droid after talking to VZW support.
Motorola replaced her Droid after talking to M support.
Then they lost it when we sent it in. In the mean time she raised hell with Verizon and they sold her an iPhone.
So when Motorola found her Droid and sent us a replacement, that's the first time I ever rooted.

My conclusion: it is not a charger issue, a ROM issue, a Kernal issue.
It's a stock Droid issue. Period.

I was rooted and running a ROM and it still acted possessed. I think it has something to do with a screwed up capacitor under the screen therefore making it a hardware issue.
