I've been using my DroidX for over a year now. I've not had any problems with it so far. However, I just bought a Scala Rider G4 system which allows me to connect my helmet to my DroidX so I can take/make calls, listen to music and navigation. The problem...I don't have any voice commands! I can't initiate calls by vocally commanding what I want (works for other Bluetooth devices). Also, when I receive a call, I don't the announcement and option to "Answer" or "Ignore". Anyone have any ideas? I've checked all my configuration settings with the G4 and all appears to be set correctly.

I use a Blueant f4 in my helmet, it doesn't give me answer ignore option, but will answer if I say anything while it's ringing, if I'm quiet it will ignore the call. This may be the case with the G4, but I'm not sure. I rarely make outgoing calls on my bike, but I believe I have to hit the multi function button and then say "open voice commands " or "open Vlingo" which is like voice commands but better IMO. Then say "call john smith mobile ". I'll fiddle around with it tonight and see what's the best way to initiate calls. The f4 and G4 should be fairly similar.

Thanks JR - Anything information is helpful. Love your quote - haven't seen Marvin in years!! =)

Well I looked a little strange sitting on my couch with a full face on but this is what I came up with, Vlingo's no good for a bike, it requires you to tap the screen to initiate a command. I then switched to voice dialer which is stock on my thunderbolt, this would auto dial but dialed the wrong number about 75 % of the time and there is no way to stop the call verbally. I definitely would not be confident making a call from my bike with it.
In the end, I found no easy/foolproof way to initiate a call from my helmet without having access to my phone. Usually when I'm riding, my phone is in a pocket somewhere. I usually only take calls in my helmet, I know when I've been on the phone, on the road, I've always felt distracted. I got the f4 mostly for the music, but will take a call when it rings.

Unusual that someone on here is old enough to recognize the signature.

Hi

I'm Geomedic. I have an original first gen. Moto Droid. I'm hoping to find info on this site that might keep me from throwing the thing at the wall. Thanks!

Hello all,

I am not new to droid, but I have never signed up for a forum before so excuse me if I don't use proper etiquette.

Anyway, I've been using droid for about two years now and still loving the endless possibilities!:)

I may be new...but I'm not really new. lol I've been lurking on this site since May of 2010 when I purchased my Moto Droid. Poor girl is now on her last leg and I am patiently waiting the release of the Bionic! Well...not so patiently actually...but I'm trying really hard to not "waste" an upgrade.
