Droid 1/2 Extended Battery

Update on the OG car Dock

ok i got my droid 1 to fit into the OG car dock
it took some thinking and some fancy knife carving to get it in

for those who have the extended battery or soon will and have and use the original droid 1 car mount. some news for you if and when you get the extended battery and install it do not put the droid in the car mount. the mount puts a lot (and i mean like breaking your phone a lot ) pressure on the lower chin of the droid this is where your micro phone hole is located. in order to get the dock to fit you will need to razor blade the two thin and long black rails on the inside of the car dock. secondly while looking at the car dock with the verizon logo directly in front of you. look at where the lower chin (micro phone area) clips into the dock those two little shoulder things that hold the lower chin in are now to thick because of the extended battery you will need to shave them down from the inside to make them thinner. I did this via a roto zip tool and a very tiny and very sharp saw blade. it works great and it can save you another 40 bucks

the droid 2 car dock works with out any mods to it but it cost 40 bucks
and i have three cars and three OG car mounts so i wasn't about to shell out 120 bucks for new car docks for an old phone. and I'm never getting the droid 2 as my next phone will be the galaxy S when it comes out next month.

Hey everyone

well been running the extended battery for about a day and a half
now and the droid 1 seems to register the correct battery percentage i let the battery and the phone DIE about an hr before it went out it showed less than 5% on my battery meter on the notification bar and this was triple checked with juice plotter , battery widget and in about phone menu all showed discharged at 5% and about 1hr later with moderate usage it died just before the screen went dark the meter show red and 0% battery. (sapphire 1.0 has a moded battery metter) I then fully charged the battery via wall plug to 100% it took about 2hrs to fully charge it from a dead 0%. After that i have been using the hell out of the phone pandora running almost all day. web surfing texting and about 10 30min phone calls through out the day and it has dropped to about 70% and was hovering there it finally dropped to about 40% late last night and stayed there tell about midnight when it dropped to 20% then i crashed and put on charge.

I was getting about 12hrs of usage from the stock battery I was able to get about 20+ from the extended..

AGAIN for all to know I use Ultimate Juice and Juice Plotter
these two apps would stretch my OG batter life to 12 hrs plus
they now stretch the extended to 20+ hrs
I have it set to shut off 3G radio when screen is off and to use Wifi automatically when available (ie known AP or open AP)
also it turns the 3G on while in sleep mode for 15seconds every 15mins to update widgets. I also have the apps setting in UJ to keep 3G on when using Pandora or slacker even if the phone screen is off.
Secondly I also use the conservative governor setting with a kernel that can go to 125mhz on the low end and 1ghz Low voltage on the high

this combo along with the extended battery has turned my once power hungry droid into a conservation monster. with heavy usage both calls and data....

the extended battery is well worth the money
:motdroidvert: + sapphire 1.0 + Ultimate Juice +extended Battery= dancedroid

Awesome. Cant wait til i get mine. I'll also have to check those programs too

Yeah the new cover is blue because the droid 2 is blue and the battery and
Cover where designed for the droid 2 not the droid 1

dang, i wanna get the new extended battery, but im not sure how 2 different colors are gonna fly with me lol. maybe ill hold out hoping motorola will release the battery for the droid 1

So, I started the post and I received my battery this morning. Here are some photos of my purchase. The battery cover is blue and I think it is impossible to get the factory cover over the battery without leaving a gap exposing the battery. I am currently trying to drain the battery now. I will report the difference in usage time in a couple of days. I now have to figure a way to get this to fit into my car dock.

I seriously doubt that Motorola will be making one for the D1 being that they are no longer in production. Do yourself a favor and get this one and then pick up a can of spray paint and make it a matte black or glossy. The best thing is you will have more battery life.

I posted how you can mod your car dock so the droid with
Extended battery will fit I will have a video of it up soon

I ordered mine @4pm this afternoon. My battery life has been awful lately, looking into kernels now tho. My total cost was $39.74 but i get a 25% discount because of my employer.

Ok I took my phone off charge at 1:00PM today (which is about the time I normally take it off). its is now 5:43pm and I am at 80% charge with moderate usage. Usually when I leave work at midnight I am at around 20-40% depending on how much I use it. I'll post back after midnight with the results.
