Update on the OG car Dock
ok i got my droid 1 to fit into the OG car dock
it took some thinking and some fancy knife carving to get it in
for those who have the extended battery or soon will and have and use the original droid 1 car mount. some news for you if and when you get the extended battery and install it do not put the droid in the car mount. the mount puts a lot (and i mean like breaking your phone a lot ) pressure on the lower chin of the droid this is where your micro phone hole is located. in order to get the dock to fit you will need to razor blade the two thin and long black rails on the inside of the car dock. secondly while looking at the car dock with the verizon logo directly in front of you. look at where the lower chin (micro phone area) clips into the dock those two little shoulder things that hold the lower chin in are now to thick because of the extended battery you will need to shave them down from the inside to make them thinner. I did this via a roto zip tool and a very tiny and very sharp saw blade. it works great and it can save you another 40 bucks
the droid 2 car dock works with out any mods to it but it cost 40 bucks
and i have three cars and three OG car mounts so i wasn't about to shell out 120 bucks for new car docks for an old phone. and I'm never getting the droid 2 as my next phone will be the galaxy S when it comes out next month.
