Droid 2 2..3.1.5 update

Anybody else having an issue with battery manager force closing when trying to view it with this build? happens to me most of the time and appears to fix itself after being plugged in ocassionally but then starts happening again. There's a few threads about it in the droid x forums too. I haven't seen any solutions as of yet.

A solution was posted a few pages back...delete the data and cache for battery manager from Applications in settings...

Help!

So I was gonna try this again and I moved my D2-2315-Deodexed.zip from my Recycle Bin back to my Desktop to back on to my SD Card. So I was going through the steps and when it comes to install the zip it says it's a bad file.. Must have corrupted or something?

So I just went back to do a reboot and now my phone won't get past the Motorola M. Am I going to have to flash the unroot file back onto my phone? I have Google Talk if anyone can help me..

So I can get into the stock Clockwork Recovery.. but can't boot into Clockwork Recovery.. Is there an update.zip that I can just install to my phone that will fix it?

Take the battery out when you are stuck at the M logo and then the next time you boot you may get into recovery. Try it a few times if it does not work. Download the file again and it get it on your SD card some how and then flash. Make sure you have the system mounted before you flash. If worse comes to worst then just SBF and start over :)

In the process of Downloading the .sbf file, but I've been reading the tutorial and it seems as though the phone has to be turned on.. I'll keep trying to see if I can get into Clockwork Recovery.

Turned on? If you take the battery out and then place it back in then you should boot into clockwork where you can flash the zipped ROM...

I can't seem to get into Clockwork Recovery. But I saw on an Unbricking a Droid X thread that you just have to be in Bootloader mode which is done by holding the Up Volume, Camera, and Power button to power on the device. Hopefully that will work to flash the .sbf

To flash the SBF hold the up arrow key when you turn on phone and until it gets into the bootloader for SBF.

Something messed up unzipping the droid2.jpg, it said CRC Failed with the larger .sbf file

Flashing failed with error (0x700F) I'm thinking I might just have to go to Verizon and see if they'll give me a new phone..

Is there anyone who can help me?

so if i do this in the right order can i skip deodexing?
like wipe data, then cache, then format , then install deodexed.
or will i still have to manually deodex ?

My guess (from your previous posts) is that your phone is no longer rooted and you lost CW. This happened to me as well trying to apply the update (though I don't remember there being a deodexed version).

You probably need to boot to bootloader (power on holding down up arrow key) and reflash your phone. It's not too painful and up to preference whether to use the linux method or windows method. One thing to remember is that your phone will not charge any longer - won't charge while stuck at M and won't charge in bootloader. This means if you have a low battery and it dies while flashing you will have to get someone to lend you their fully charged battery for you to try again.

Hopefully you made a backup before trying to apply the update and can restore once you flash back to stock rom and root again but if you didn't that's okay too, you just have to start from scratch with apps/settings etc.

Linux method I used: How to flash a SBF via Linux! - xda-developers (the link for sbf_flash didin''t work but its easy to search/find on google.
Windows method can be found many places but here is one:
Tutorial/Walkthrough for flashing an .sbf to Droid 2 (unrooting/factory restore) - xda-developers

Good luck

If you downloaded a deodexed app and framework folder then you can skip all the deodexing steps...

ok... so has anyone seen the actual benefits to this upgrade? I keep contemplating going back to the nandroid backup that I made when I had it running well, but I am liking my 928Droid theme too well.... I don't use the MotoFacebook, so the contact issue wasn't one for me....

Im torn... on one hand, I want the latest and greatest, but the other hand says - if it ain't broke, don't fix it....

I had the update installed for approximately 30 minutes. The main thing I liked was moving the unlock swipe up a bit. My main issue with Froyo on the D2 was that PIN SYCN bug with corporate email and they didn't fix it with this update so I restored my nandroid backup (stock rom with root) and deodexed then added 928Droid theme and am loving it. Did have a random reboot this am which I hadn't had in a while (just added 928 theme last night).

Overall, I'd say there isn't any clear reason to update at this point. None of us who have used 2.3.15 have found any truly compelling updates...the lock screen tweak (moving the unlock slider up a bit) is nice, and it seemed like it fixed the issue where some contacts w/Facebook linkages weren't displaying all phone numbers, but other than that there weren't any clear benefits.

I went back to 2.2.20/deodexed/928Droid Black Glass theme a couple days ago...the developer of that theme is going to release an updated version integrating the 2.3.15 apps and framework, so when I install that I'll presumably get a good part of any benefits of 2.3.15 + the awesome look of his theme. That's a win-win for me. :)

Yea... no CoprSync pin issues for me... My exchange syncs well anyways.

Thanks Red... I'm with you.... I think I'll wait till 928 does the 2.3.15 theme and go at that point.
