Droid 2.3

Well, I think the rooting suggestion makes perfect sense.
If you want a full complete real version of Gingerbread for your Droid, it's already here (mmm upgraded text selection), you must root to get it.
No root = no Gingerbread
 
Interesting discussion. I've had my Droid since Jan. 2010, I'm out of warranty, and I've never rooted. I may someday, but I don't see the need right now. I believe the question is will there be an official OTA version of Gingerbread for the Droid, and the answer is nobody knows. Motorola has a list of Android versions for its phones, and for the Droid, all it says is Upgrade to 2.2 is complete. It doesn't say its going to remain there, like it does for other phones. Until they officially announce that there will be no more updates, then I will stay unrooted.
 
i use to know. Honestly, I did. I was 100% sure of it in September. Now I don't have any idea if anyone will see 2.3.
