Droid 2 global d2g GINGERBREAD DEFINITELY COMING!

I have seen this question a couple of times but no answer, maybe some of you know...

Do you have to be on Verizon's network to get the update? I mean, I'm outside the US and using a foreign SIM, am I going to be able to update via OTA?

I can't be certain, but I would think so. The update comes from Motorola's servers, not Verizon's.

I did a reverted back to stock to check for the update and got a "servers are down. Try again later" message.

You have to be on their network for the targeted push to work. Manual updates (Settings / About Phone / System Update) works over WIFI.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't think a 'Forum Manager' would be the guy to be taking this sort of information from, especially since he seems to be stating that due to a complete and distinct LACK of information regarding the update. Verizon Twitter has stated several times today that the update IS happening now, and personally, I think I'll take verizon's word over some forum admin from motorola on the subject. Seeing motorola employees falsely disseminating information is pathetic.

Matt the guy who said the quote was the one who had sent me the email about the soak test. Maybe he might be more than just a forum admin

This whole thing is really pathetic for both Moto and especially Verizon. Why would Verizon put on their website all thi stuff about GB unless it was being released soon. Also the tweets. The only thing that I can think of is that they found some big bugs in the update and are delaying it. That hasnt happened b4 right?

The other thing to consider is if the update is supposedly happening, why have not not seen a single confirmed report of it? I'm inclined to go with the Motorola forum admin than Verizon at this point.

You know, on the same line of thought that an update will happen after june as a final, that is Q3. Who wants to bet since these shenanigans with vzw and moto, they just made eveyone forget about bootloaders because they are fiending for an update of any kind?
