droid-bionic-5-9-905-update-ready-to-rollout-fix

2 things I always do following an update: 1) power down and do battery and sim removal. Power back up without the sim to home screen. Power back down and replace battery and sim then power up. 2)wipe the cache partition in stock recovery. Both of these have helped me in the past with connectivity and battery life.
This is just for re-registering ur account and for you connections problem, this doesn't work w/ a battery problem.

Ive been on the. 905 leak for two weeks...somethin like that. Horrible to me...4g..then no 4g...like everytime I went to do somethin on the phone. So.idk if its just my phone,or what. A few days back...I made my bionic a wifi hotspot. Had most of the family connected. It dropped the hotspot, after a few minutes of having three people connected. It was never the same after that. The 4g data loss started heavily then. This bionic is also a certified preowned one. The headphone jack has not worked correctly since I got the phone. It acts like its been damaged via water. Verizon is sending me a new certified preowned one...lol, hopin it fixes all the issues. Im rooted now on eclipse...905 software...and still data issues. I turned the lte off earlier...so far so good on the phone data now.

The only issue that I have had with. 905 is every now and then I lose "the blue" but keep 4G then it fixes....I did have to wipe the cache partition once.

Thats how mine was doing....but then became everytime I clicked on facebook...or browser. I got the labdock five days ago, everytime I hooked it to it..it would turn white 4g

If these were needed or actually do something beneficial you would think Verizon / moto would include these steps in the install instructions. Are these just random thingz you tried and perceived to work? Or is there some documentation as to why removing the sim or killing cache would help

Removing the sim in conjunction with a battery "pull" forces the phone to re-register on the network. It is something Verizon has in tech support to tell you to try to help with signal issues. I read a long time ago in a tips and tricks list about the cache partition wipe. I had terrible battery life after one of the updates so I decided to try it and the cache partition wipe made a significant improvement for me.

I shared these things because through my personal experience, they have helped me.

The battery and sim pull are for signal issues. The cache partition wipe is specifically for battery life.

I can't explain all the workings, but I can say that I have done both of these things and they have helped me. What does anyone have to lose by trying them? Absolutely nothing. These things might help others like they have helped me. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I just use the battery calibration when am having problem about the battery, but, about pulling the battery and sim card ..i am the first or second person who discover this idea and posted this to this forum long time ago...also am very sensitive when it comes to battery, that's why you will noticed that i have had this Tips on my sig. :)Thanks for some other tips anyway about the battery..some will help this in a long run...nothing to lose by trying this anyway right?

4 Bionics on my account. My husband got the update Thursday. None of the rest of us have.... He is not set up with Moto for anything  We are all stock, no root.....

Three things about OTA (Over The Air) updates...

1) They are RANDOM. So random that if you bought all your Bionics the same day, one could get an update days after the others. Back in 2009 when the OG Droid was getting its first update, someone had set up a Google map where you could "stick a pin" showing where and when you got the update. No rhyme or reason at all.

2) They can load in the background. If they do, when you bring your phone up from sleep (i.e., bringing the screen up) it'll say you have an update available. This is assuming you leave your phone on (maybe connected to a charger) all the time.

3) When you check for updates, you are sending a signal to the carrier. The carrier checks your version and IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number and if you're scheduled to receive it, you'll see a message saying so. This means that if you're scheduled to get an update on June 19th at 3:47am, your phone will say that it's "Up to date" even though others have been getting the update since June 14th.

The only caution I have with the sim pull is when you put it back, but sure to put it in the right way. I didn't one time and it fried the sim card. The phone still worked, but I could only get 3G. I took it to a Verizon store and explained what I did. They confirmed the card was fried and set me up with a new one at no charge.

Please forgive me if I came across as trying to take credit for these ideas. I did not create or discover these things. I have read about them and experienced success with them, so I pass them along in the hopes of helping someone else who is experiencing issues that I have been through.

Anyone here not on the soak list receive it?

Not a hugely relevant question, considering the way Moto handles soak tests. They make it clear that not everyone who signs up for the soak test will receive it - AND not everyone who receives it will be part of the soak test.

Some phones just get chosen at random. I think this ensures a mix of "normal users" and the more entusiastic types who would sign up for a soak test to begin with.

I read this article on Phandroid. droid bionic – Search Results – Droid Life . I downloaded the 902 update file.

I have a bionic. it is rooted and am on 902. I have Safestrap installed. I am unclear on how to install the 905 update. I tried to install update from SD card and was told I could not do that because safestrap was disabled. I went into safestrap and went to the Safe system menu. Am I supposed toggle safe system in order to install the update for the SD card? I do have the update in the root of the card.:blink:
