droid-bionic-5-9-905-update-ready-to-rollout-fix

Still waiting!

the soak test is over now. it was carried out last week and over the weekend. I got an email with a link to a survey asking about the 905 update. If everything went accordingly, they should begin pushing this update to everyone sometime in the near future.

I got an email asking me to participate a few weeks ago and I got an email yesterday saying to give feedback on it. The soak test is likely finished like jayman says.

I read this article on Phandroid. droid bionic – Search Results – Droid Life . I downloaded the 902 update file.

I have a bionic. it is rooted and am on 902. I have Safestrap installed. I am unclear on how to install the 905 update. I tried to install update from SD card and was told I could not do that because safestrap was disabled. I went into safestrap and went to the Safe system menu. Am I supposed toggle safe system in order to install the update for the SD card? I do have the update in the root of the card.:blink:

Did you out the update on ext sd card? Are u still in the unsafe system?

From .905 leak.

If I'm using common sense correctly it looks like 4G radio is the same, its the cdma version thats changed. So the handoff between 3g and 4g should be improved. Recovering from bad signal (being inside a meat cutting room for example... im a butcher) i get the problem all the time where inside that room pandora streaming just fine then it stops when a song ends. I gotta unlock phone and then it picks up 3g then sometime 4g right after. Im in austin so 4g all over.

Unsafe system means dont screw it up. Once you toogle to the safe side you can mess around without bricking you phone. Safestrap allows you to dual boot

With all of the data drop posts on various forums regarding this soak test of .905 I bet it's not ready for prime time and we won't see it officially.
I could be wrong.

Update is in the root of the SD card. I believe I am on unsafe system. Not sure how that works, but will check it out.

Shouldn't the update be in the root of the SD-EXT instead?

OK, I was on the safe side so went ahead with the update. The update failed and aborted. (Status 6). Tried twice and no go. Going back to unsafe side and do some more reading. Thank you.

Actually, you have to be on stock .902 to get/apply the .905 update be it OTA or leaked, that would mean no safestrap since my understanding is no matter which side (safe/unsafe) you're on, the files that allow safestrap to work also mess up the update. But don't despair, here is a link to the tech suppor thread on this site where I posted a link I had found that gives all the information on how to update including how one would do this if on .904 and/or using safestrap.

I've had 4G data drops for a week now! With no rollover to 3G!??? I'm thinking it was just bad timing, and its a VZW issue across the board! Other than that, the . 905 soak has had no other issues on my phone! Enough of us have brought it to Motos attention that I'm sure its been looked at! I think its gonna get pushed this week anyway! If it fails, I see 906 right behind it ..Lol ;-)

I have taken every leaked update and had safestrap installed everytime. U just need to make sure you are on unsafe side / stock rom when you go into fastboot recovery to apply update.

I went back to .902 after trying .905 for a couple of days. I manually installed the OTA .905 and it was great for about a day. the past couple of days I've had 4g to 3g drops in locations where I would usually have a solid 4g connection. The good thing about .905 was that I did not get any "Low Memory" messages when using the lapdock. Anyways I am now on .902 again and will await any further updates that will hopefully get rid of this data connection issue that most of us are having.

Be sure to keep that file, because any more updates will start with .905.
