Droid Bionic? Maybe not...

Is the 4g on SG2 confirmed or rumored. Looking at specs, it makes me tempted to give it a serious look over vs. the Bionic.

No. If a Version of it does come out LTE, look forward for a release of late 4th Q. The LTE radio is just to big for the phone they would have to change the form of the phone.

I don't understand why everyone is so firm in saying no to the vzw sgs2 having lte at the upcoming launch. The sprint version just went through the fcc at 5mm taller and 3mm wider than the original. It has their wimax radio, so who's to say it looks like a definite nogo for lte? Am I missing something?

Like many of you I had an OG droid. I originally wanted the Bionic when it was announced in January. I really wanted it, but when I heard it was essentially canceled I looked into other options. I was put off by the talk of encrypted bootloaders (meaning motoblur might be hard to completely remove).

I checked out the Samsung Charge and just fell in love with the amazing screen. I had to get over the fact I knew it wasn't the latest processor. I played with it and it was really really responsive, way faster than my rooted overclocked droid. What put me over the edge was the bootloader is completely unlocked.

So now I have blazing fast LTE, sweet screen, and a single core processor on a rooted phone. I really love it. Will I be jealous when the bionic comes out? Sure a little, but this super amoled plus screen is like crack! Will I be jealous if the S2 comes out with LTE? yes. With the droid charge rooted, the responsiveness is amazing (even stock it was good). I could see wanting dual core to play some of the new games or for browsing non-mobile enabled sites (neither of which I do very often).

Honestly, the thing I'm wanting most in my next phone is a higher res super amoled screen and less shutter lag on the camera (no new phone for me for 16 months lol)

It's the size of the LTE antenna. Notice how all the 3 LTE phones are around about the same size?

^This.

Look how long WiMax has been in use. There are probably 2nd gen WiMax antennas in use that are smaller too.

Bionic will be the phone to get for most smartphone enthusiasts. I actually fell in love with the screen for Droid Charge and pulled the trigger.

S2 and iphone 5 will not have LTE.

I think s2 will def. Have lte, there working on getting. It together right now and will be released august or september

Well, it's officially anybody's ball game with a September launch. SGSII will steal away purchases if it launches in August whether it has LTE or not. If it has LTE, it could steal away a significant share.

I just want a dual core lte phone, guess that's to much to ask for considering ll other carriers already have one or multiple...sigh

You are correct. Even a 2 week earlier release on a 4 lte will make a good size dent.

Where can I get a look at the size of one of the 4G radios? Are they really so huge that a 5mm by 3mm increase couldn't provide enough wiggle room to slide some things around to make one fit?
