Droid going "end of life" at Best Buy...

Ok well their can be many reasons best buy is not going to sell it, maybe its not worth it to them. Maybe for some reason they can't sell it for $49.95 like other places, or do they? I dont know .. but my guess is that with this type of phone, if people are going to buy it in person, they would rather get it at a verizon store. But also, its light years ahead of phones that have come out since.. if you buy a 57 inch lcd tv and learn a week later that a newer version comes out with 2 extra settings on the sleep timer, do you run and get a new tv? lol ..scared how many of you would say yes.. <g>

First of all Best Buy is the joke of all electronics stores. The typical employees has a brain the size of a peanut.
Interesting...since I work there...thanks...that was so insightful.

So nice to be painted with such an ignorant opinion...:icon_evil:

As to the end of life or at risk...VZW makes the call as to what we carry in store and what we don't. If they want a different phone, a flagship so to speak, they might pull the Droid so they don't butt heads with the Nexus. Unfortunately, what they should pull is the Devour...that one has horrible sales...

Droid isn't going anywhere. Probably just getting ready to push the newest biggest selling item. Thats called sales and it works. AIts always about the next big thing.

I put in typical to leave you out - the rest are dummies :):icon_ devil:

Exactly the point I was making... something new is around the corner. No reason to freak out. Droid users will eventually get our 2.1 and Verizon will have something new to add to big red. I don't know about you but I like my Droid and my carrier.

How many android phones are their in total I don't know who's wrose with commingle out with a new phone every 3 days android or HTC I just got my Droid and would hate to turn it in so I can upgrade to a new phone that is better than what I have already.

You're MAD? There will be over 200 new Android phones coming out this year from multiple cell phone manufacturers.

If you get mad every time a new one comes out you will be in sad shape.

A friend of mine just bought a Blackberry 8310 with a 2 yrs contract , so I think somebody will still buy the Droid 3 yrs from now .

Seriously, folks. How about a little perspective. Motorola is still building and supporting the Droid. Software updates are still coming. Hardware support, warranties, etc. are still fully in force.

Even if you never got another software update, you still have the Marketplace to add, modify, tweak and upgrade functions and features on your own, so this is hardly the same situation as you have with a typical cell phone.

So, ask yourself-did I buy this phone because it does what you want and is a good phone, or did I buy it as a status symbol? If the former, BB ceasing to cell the phone doesn't change that. If the latter, well, as SSHguru says, you're going to be in for disappointment every time a new phone comes out. Buy technology because it works for you, not to "keep up with the Jonses".

Second of all have you seen all the Droid commercials? Have you seen ANY Nexus commercials?

Stop freaking.:icon_ banana:
Please be careful as to not be offensive in your posts. There are some Best Buy employees on the forum. I personally can see them not selling the Droid and replacing it with the N1, but it doesn't mean it's the end of the line for the Moto Droid at VZW Corporate stores and elsewhere.
