Droid or iPhone. Report in!

As someone mentioned, it IS a Droid forum, so it'd be a little retarded to be a member of it if you're a die hard iPhone fan. Also as someone else mentioned, they ARE both killer devices. You're pretty much rocking the best of the best with either, and the only real reasons for owning one or the other are purely user-preference. Without going into another exhausted list of pro's and con's I simply choose the Droid over the iPhone any day because I want a hardware keyboard. Automatic win. ;)

If you want a metrosexual-looking phone , get the iPhone.
I had to laugh at loud at this one....

I was just having that very same conversation with a girlfriend of mine who owns the iPhone.

Whats even funnier is SHE is the one that said that. I'm not going to bash the iPhone it's great. But it's not aesthetically pleasing to me.

I like a more rugged look to my gadgets and the iPhone is just too pretty for my taste. Great phone no doubt but I cannot see myself carrying one. Not because i care about what people think mind you : ) but it's not my style.

Droid is rugged and angular like the Original Humvee's. Was a bad arse vehicle then they went and ruined it with the inception of the H2.

No interest in it....Droid will be my weapon of choice for a while.

It's kinda annoying though when people ask what type of phone I have, and when I say it's the Motorola Droid, they say, "Oh, well the iPhone is way better." Did they even ask what the Droid can do or even ask to see it? I've had way to many people compared to those who gave the Droid as far of a shot that they gave an iPhone. And every person who has looked at my Droid and listen to what it could do, especially those who can understand the hardware too, say that the Droid is as good if not better than the iPhone. I didn't wait for the iPhone because I wanted something different than everyone else. I wanted some freedom, and that is what the Droid gave me. I just don't like that no one seems to give other phone's a chance, since the iPhone was first. First doesn't always mean best.

Oh, and don't get me wrong, the iPhone is a great phone. Just wish other people would give other phones a chance.

Forgot the Win Phone 7 option... ;)

Win Phone...?

^Just saw picture in another thread. Fits perfect. Thanks titans.

The fact that a good number of people on a Droid forum would switch to an iPhone if Verizon offered it shows what a huge problem this would be to Android market share growth. Fortunately, a bigwhig analyst said today that such a move would be unlikely for 2010. The longer Android gets to compete unimpeded, that smaller Apple's monopoly power becomes.

TBH Apple seems to be slowing down with it's development for the iPhone the iterations and the additions don't seem all that worthwhile anymore. The difference between the iPhone 2g vs 3g was huge but 3g -> 3gs was lame (I mean they even looked exactly alike.) Coming from a prior 3G iPhone I absolutely adore my Droid, because of the LCD size, res etc the physical keyboard after the iphone i thought I didn't need one but once I got back to it I don't know if I can do w/o again. The turn by turn navigation, at least compared to a year ago iphone's, is light years ahead. And much more...

I would consider the next version of the iphone as a replacement for my droid when the time comes, but I wouldn't trade my Droid for it right now.

Honestly, I don't know that I would ever truly consider an iphone until it has a removable battery. I like having the option of switching batteries or getting an extended model.

A lot of people here on fanboys. Fact of the matter is, most of us tech savvy users are merely waiting for the next best thing. The Droid is an all around enjoyable experience, and has a lot going for it. However if the iPhone changes up it's style, other than just being 4G, it might be a reason to switch. Then when another phone comes that surpasses it, people will move to that phone. I love my Droid, and do indeed have a strong attachment to it, but only because it gets the job done, and in times like these, that's what counts.

Yes but most tech savvy people i know went to the droid because the ONLY way to do anything decent on the Iphone was jailbreaking it. You think it will be any less limited because it's on verizon? Yes the iphone might have 10238192849017412804612896489126481246812 apps, but 95% of them are similar if not almost exactly the same as bunches of others. This may be a droid forum, but many people here switched over from the iphone to begin with, some will switch back, most won't though. At least on this forum, most members that switched from it basically said, they wouldn't switch back for just about anything.

To address another member, yes there are apps for the iphone that aren't for the droid, the thing that apple had / has going for them is that they got many developers to jump on the bandwagon to begin with. Great for business. Some just don't want to switch over to android because of the different verisons, which by 2011 should be fixed. The whole screen size thing... do you really think apple is going to keep the same screen size for the rest of their lives? dont think so. Though it will be somewhat easier because i'd imagine the insides should stay alot the same. Though you can already see it in many developers, they are just fed up with apple and all their BS you have to do to get an app up on the marketplace. They are 100% not consistent on what they let on the marketplace.

Droid FTW! I'm biased against anything Apple.

I'm not biased at all, but i do not want a piece of hardware that is not as open as the droid allows for. While the iphone may look amazing, 4-6 months down the road they will either release the new droid or at least have a tentative date for a release for the 4g model i would imagine. the moto droid has done amazingly well, i doubt they wouldn't make another one for 4g with bunches of upgrades. I'd rather just wait for that then get an iphone.

I want something better than a Droid or an iPhone for my next phone.

Right now, the best phone for me is the Droid. Replacing it with an iPhone would be a step backwards.

The fact that a good number of people on a Droid forum would switch to an iPhone if Verizon offered it shows what a huge problem this would be to Android market share growth.

No it doesn't. Especially if a similar poll of iPhone users showed a preference for switching to a Droid (or other Android phone).
