Droid Price Cuts

I've had to put my purchase on hold for now. I just can't justify the expense right now, even with the lower prices. I'm stuck with my Blackberry for a while longer.

If you want to get best deal on Droid IMO..

First this is all IMO and I am a happy Droid owner but just a little back story to get to the Droid. Went to Firefly to get a phone for my wife.. ENV3, I know she is weird and doesn't like smartphones, but I ended up canceling that. I canceled because Best Buy gave me one for free. However issue with Wirefly and I would never recomend them. I was adding a line to my current account. Well they sent me a phone, with the wrong area code, did not add a line to my account, rather they used my social activated another completly seperate account and I knew noon the wiser until Verizon sent me a bill asking for $200 for a new account. Since then I have been working with Verizon, their fraud department, and my attorney because someone in the Wirefly chain used my info for identity fraud. That out of the way on to the Droid deal.

Went to Best Buy. Used price match with local Sears add for $149. Since I was getting a deal I made another deal with BB rep to get 4 accesories for another $50. So total now is $200. Paid and left. Went to different BB the next day. Returned all accesories for full retail price. It was a case, $20, dock (BB charges $45), Invisishield $20, car charger $20. Got cash back. Went to Verizon store and got the case, and invisishield for $20 combined after my 25% discount for VIP. So total cost out the door - $65 for Droid with case and invisishield.

Moral of story - Stay away from Wirefly. They will scam you in the end. If you use retailers, use ones that you can actually go to, not a call center in India.

But you have no problem scamming BB....Nice.

I need some advice. I went into my Local VZW store on saturday and picked up the Moto Droid. I've always been a blackberry guy but so far i'm loving the Droid.

My question is i think i pretty much got the shaft on the price. $250 (i got a $50 NE2 discount) and I have to send in a MIR.

Question is what are my options? Can i return it to VZW and pick it up cheaper from best buy? Will they charge me a return fee?

You got 14 days to return to VZW (no questions asked, if you didn't cut the sticker from the box), but I think unless you buy online, your price is the going rate right now. Even BestBuy will not do much better.

The guy at the verizon store cut the box and he prepared my MIR. So the box is already cut..

Now i read a few pages back that bestbuy price matched the Moto Droid for $99.. almost seems worth it to return the one i have to Verizon, and pick up a few extra bucks with the one from BB and not have to deal with a MIR.

Seeing how the box was cut (VZW rep. or not) then the return cant be made. It happened to me with the phone I had about 2 years ago they cut the boxs' UPC because I wasn't sure how to do it at first. I really liked the Blackberry I saw a day after went to return it and was told no seeing how the box was cut by a manager and on the phone. It is unfortunate.

U have 30 days no Q. State law in MI is U have 72hrs to recind a purchase if the complain about the UPC code bump up to manager or district manager. If no help leave the phone and cancel contract then buy from mobility.dell.com for $119 yes it's still available. Good luck and let us know how it pans out. Peace.

What ads are people using to price match? I can justify $99 now, but not $250.

I used the dell and seras add. Pending what your BB rep wants to take you ned to have options. The official policy states that they only have to price match on another "local" retailer add. Therefore the Dell ad wouldn't work. But if you have a mall anywhere around you can use the Sears add. They are all the same price in the end. All these online ratailers eventually goes back to Wirefly. Which DO NOT USE OR ORDER FROM THEM. Use their ads though all day long for the price match. Be warned, if you order through Dell, Sears, or other online retailer then you will be locked into contracts outside of standard Verizon and they will ultimatly charge you after you activate the phone for full retail. Or in my case just steal my SS# and create bogus accounts with Verizon.
