Droid Price Cuts

Yeesh. I hardly think all the biggest electronics retailers in the U.S. would work with Wirefly if they were in the identity theft business.
I have purchased straight from Wirefly 3 times and let me tell you it was a hell of a lot better than dealing with the no-nothings at the store.

Also for what it's worth I am pretty paranoid about protecting my info. I use a service that generates a unique email address for every transaction, so if I ever get spammed, I know the source and can cut it off. My Wirefly order information has never generated email from anybody other than Wirefly.

I am glad they have worked out for you. I wish it was the same for me but that wasn't the case. I will say since my problem they have worked with me to correct it and did confirm it was someone in the warehouse in MD that did it. Personally I would not recommend them, but if it works for you then more power to you. I will just stick to dealing with live people and not being forced into other contracts that aren't directly with verizon such as the if u change your number they hit you for full cost or update plan they charge u.

What are the pros and cons of buying at Best Buy vs Vzw?? Can I get my govt discount (on the plan) thru BB, or do I add it later by calling Vzw?

Costco Special!

Until the 1/25 Costco has cut the price of the Droid to $159.99. They provide a free accessory kit (car phone charger, case, and hands free ear bud) plus no activation fee. I didn't have time to pick one up tonight, but i will be back tomorrow. :icon_ banana:

Thank you! Got the Droid from Wirefly for $119 ($69.99 after $50 Bing Cashback, which showed up in my Bing account the next day). Could not have been easier. :)

Umm wouldn't it be a better deal if you get it from wirefly? Goto Bing search for wirefly. Click the link by the big logo of $50 Cash Back. Once at wirefly, you will see on the top of the home page $50 Bing Cash Back. Search around for the droid. Sign up for the plan you want, add some stuff like car charger, case, etc. And you should be under $159, and in 60 days you will have the $50 cash back. Make sure you have a hotmail account before doing all that.

Anyone still confused, go to the forums on Slickdeals.net: The best coupons, deals and bargains to save you money! They will help you make an account with bing if you need the help. I am sure there is a sticky there some where how to do bing cash back. Sears was 20% cash back on some TVs last weekend, ebay hovers around 8% most of the time, etc. etc. If you are going to buy, you might as well see if you can bing it! LOL, I don't work for MS, WireFly, or anybody for that matter. :icon_ banana:

It was $119 at wirefly right now. Minus $50 Bing bucks + $35 activation and the final cost is $104. A good deal (do they charge state tax?). I'll still go with Costco later today tho... I can walk out with the phone in hand, number changed over and with the accessory pack (valued at $70 - not that believe that, lol) in hand. I hate waiting for stuff to arrive. At wirefly standard shipping is free (but how long??), 2nd day is $7.99 and next day business is $19.99.

I see. I think shipping was supposed to be 3-4 days, but mine said two day shipping on it, oh and I got free activation. I forgot about that.

"Free Accessory Pack ($70 Value)" = Chinese imports worth $5 total

I got the Droid from Verison Phone sales for $119 and an LG Chocolate Touch for the wife for $49. Took some dickering, but I was able to get them down.

She hated the Chocolate, so we traded it in at the local store on an Eris- which we got for free with the "Buy a Driod get an Eris for free" deal.

Total of $119 for both a Moto and an Eris with a 2 year contract.

That was "Upgrade" pricing, btw- not a new contract.

I've been due for an upgrade on my line since 2008 . I bought my original enV back in 2006 and honestly didn't feel the need to replace it until this past summer when I bought a used enV Touch and activated it.

So now it has come the time to use my upgrade and I've decided (take a guess lol) on the Moto Droid :). I noticed the price is currently $199 but I was thinking I could hold out a bit for the price to drop down a bit. Though I'm wondering if they are planning a sale anytime soon. I plan to buy it online via the Verizon website. Any insight? I'm not really cheap, but I hate to shell out $200 when the price might drop by $50 in the next month or so.

Call the phone sales and dicker with them. They can drop the price WAY down.

Read the full thread and you'll see much cheaper prices than than -- as low as $69, from authorized Verizon Wireless dealers.
