Verizon online is offering Moto Droid for $199 & get one free with 2 yr. contract

Follow-up: I'm wondering if Verizon is offering better deals on the Moto Droid because something new is coming out and they want to get as many Droids off the shelf as possible??

Just bought my Droid a couple of weeks ago at $199, got a price match for $148.88, this week the Droid went down to $99 at Best Buy so I got another price match.

I second this question... just got two droids on Monday. Would like to get a price match from VZ Online if they do it. Please advise on how you went about it if, you did.

I got mine from amazon wireless for $109 (upgrade price) 2 weeks ago. They won't price match their new $49 price though...I just checked. The CS rep was very nice about it and I guess paying $60 for 2 weeks of usage isn't terrible. I prob could return the phone and re-buy it at $49 but I'm too lazy

I'm really curious to see as to why the price is dropping so rapidly....this doesn't bode well for the Motorola Devour since it will be released as more expensive than the droid at lower specs.

well the price drops i think are a combination of a few things
1) eris has been selling better than droid due to its low or free pricing
2) nexus one
3)htc incredible
with two new phones on the horizon with beefed up specs they probably want to offload them while they can

I have had my Droid since November so the BOGOF deal wasn't going to work now that my wife wants one. So I headed to Amazon last night and purchased a Droid for $49.99. They even throw in free 2 day shipping. Hard to beat that, when you look at the $200 that VZ was charging for 1 Droid. It's even better than the BOGOF deal as you could get two phones for $100 vs. $200 (not considering any upgrade discounts that some may have available). I can guarranty that a new phone is coming out. Why? Because there is always a new phone coming out! It's never ending and that's great. I really like my Droid a lot and will be happy with it until my contract is up. Now my wife is stoked about her new phone (she currently has an older Treo) and can't wait to get it.

Not too hard, if you read this forum. Start at Bing search and order from Wirefly and it's $50 less than you paid.

Hmmm, I just ordered my Droid from VZN last Friday, $149.00 with 2-yr contract renewal, then they offered a second one free, so I ordered it for my wife.

Wonder if I can call them for price matching on mine?

Any chance 2.1 is already installed? Naw, can't be.

Mine came in the mail yesterday. Saturday. Cool phone and gadgets. I think I'm gonna like it alot. 2.0.1, no 2.1 yet. But, I'm not sure that it would do much for me anyway. I can't use everything on the phone I've got. you're gonna like it, especially if you've never had a smart phone before, like me. take care.

Ordered mine late Thursday for $49.99 with a contract renewal/upgrade. Doesn't come in til tomorrow though
