Droid Pro Just Began Restarting On It's Own

One interesting point is that it does not reboot when it's charging. Could a battery replacement solve this problem, or it's phone power management bug. Tried to instal fission rom-did not help, then again flashed 2.26.20 SBF, rebooting every f***ing 3 minutes

It's really pissing the crap out of me. Hearing "DROID" in the middle of class...Seriously becoming problematic.

I've tried another battary-didn't help, So i guess it's phone hardware issue and i have to send the phone back to US

Well, I'm another Droid Pro user getting random restarts. It started restarting on its own 20 minutes out of the box. The only thing I installed was Skyfire. Everything else was stock when it started randomly rebooting. It hasn't rebooted while in use, only when idle. This is my second replacement. My first Droid Pro would NOT install the OS update. It would download the update and fail 25% into installation. Now I received this replacement and its randomly rebooting. Its too bad, I really love this phone. I love the keyboard compared to my Droid 2. However, my Droid 2 never gave me this many problems and it was rooted and had tons of apps installed.

Mine reboots when charging (and when not charging). Heard 'DRROOOIIIDDD' a half dozen times yesterday alone; much more random than that previously.

Wondering whether this could be a network thing? Woke up this morning to find error message saying that there were no CDMA networks found (???I am in eastern time zone/ US) ...did I want to switcth to global. I said no...all was fine...unclear whether this triggered a restart while I was sleeping.

If random, not *that* big a deal until/ unless it reboots (conspicuously) during meeting. Not rooted...stuck with sound.

Any thoughts?

Random rebooting is another "glitch" in the Pro. I haven't heard of any other Android phone from any other carrier having this problem. No one seems to know exactly what's causing it or has found a cure for it. My Pro seems to reboot itself when the 3g signal is weak (one or less bars). I have not experienced a reboot when the signal is strong. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. One thing for sure...no one has figured it out...yet.

I agree with previous poster. Every single re-boot I have witnessed on my PRO occurred when the 3G was down to no bars. If I ever get an error that 'internet' or 'data' is not available, I notice the 3G bars are gone and within about a minute or so I get the re-boot. Very frustrating, but since I've removed the 'drooooid' starup sound, it's not as annoying (or embarrassing) as it used to be.

I wouldn't care much either- if there was a way to silence the DRRRROOOOIIIID' sound without rooting, Rooting gets into water that is too deep for me!

Rooting is pretty simple and straightforward. All you have to do is launch a app and its rooted, then delete the file and unroot.

I do understand that some people do not wish to root for various reasons. Personally I see no downsides to it

I too would like to let everyone know about my issues. I have a Droid Pro, and for some reason over this weekend it went into a rebooting cycle that would not end unless I pulled the battery out and left it out. I was rebooting every 5 to 10 min and would not stop. I tried the factory reset to no avail, I removed all apps that I installed to no avail. I finally went to the system info setting and downloaded the newest version 3.8.7.XT610 which took about 45 min and now everything is up and running smoothly. I can't speak for anyone else, but that seemed to do the trick for me. FYI, this is my second Droid Pro in as many weeks, I like the phone but hate all of the bugs. My first one locked up and I had to pull the battery, upon reinserting the battery, it would not boot at all. Verizon said they had never seen that and then had to ship me a new phone. The new phone had this rebooting issue that seemd to be resolved with the new software update. Good luck my friends.

I've been an active blackberry user for the past 6 years. Decided to go with the hype and get a droid that is most similiar too the bb, the droid pro which I received today. The phone was fine, got a few apps from the market. everything was fine until about 2 hours ago. the phone started randomly turning off on me, not sure why. took off the pocket sensor thing. I'm currently updating my software. if it does not work, i will be calling verizon tomorrow and try to be sent a new one. i understand that many phones have bugs but for a phone to be constantly rebooting?

Pros are known to reboot. Mine just did it about 10 minutes ago.

It sucks don't get me wrong but its better than having to do a battery pull several times a day and waiting 5 minutes for the phone to start. Look at it this way, the pro does it for you :)
