Droid pro unveiled!!!!!!!

It does seem a little on the "small" side, but I'm rather impressed with the first images of it. It might be hard to drop from a 4.3" screen to a 3.1" screen. However I think this could easily capture the eyes of many Blackberry users. This is definitely something that I would need to have a little hands on time in order to make judgement.

I don't like it. It does look like a Blackberry but that's not why. I don't like the keyboard at all. I can't imagine trying to type with that thing.

I agree there. While I like having a physical keyboard, I don' t want it to stick out like that. Notice? No separate keys for numbers.....AGAIN. If this is for business wouldn't it be nice to type in numbers without having to do anything special?

That's def NOT the Droid Pro I saw a tester with 2 weeks ago! Looks like a hoax to me!

I'm going along with this as I said earlier in the thread. Maybe not a hoax (i think this is the venus) but this does not look to be the Droid Pro.

Shenanigans : )

Ok now I'm home and was able to do a little digging.

This WAS the Venus.

Whatever the name. Not 4 me : )

So what's this "Venus" that is in testing supposed to be like? Any ideas?
No the now Droid Pro was the "Venus" that was rumored a couple weeks ago.

Confusing I know : )

Code name Venus is officially the Droid Pro..I hope that makes sense?

Code name turned product name.

I know it doesn't fit the typical mold of an Android device, but this phone is going to sell well.

Firstly, because there are still plenty of people who have heard of Android, but have yet to either make the plunge, or have a contract renewal. There are plenty of all touch-screen devices from HTC, Motorola (1), and Samsung; and for the hardware keyboard type, there are now a few options with G2 coming along the Droid 2.

So far, I'd say Android has been able to capture a younger audience. It is an OS that doesn't exactly scream business, and besides, BB has held a stranglehold for a while now. Like others have said, this is Android's opportunity to move in on the business/professional front, hence the "Pro" nomenclature.

It doesn't have the layout for an app like PSX4Droid, but that doesn't matter; this phone is going to be the first viable "switch" option for a lot of BlackBerry users on Verizon. It suggests familiarity and stability, with a bit more of a "business look," for the average BB user.

Android is already doing just fine among the tech-savvy, now it's time to adjust the scope and chip away at RIM. I think having this option is a really smart idea by Motorola, and expect at least 1 competitor in the future.

very disappointed. i wasn't expecting a blackberry with android. i guess the "pro" is for professional business.

Having the keyboard is not enough to convert bb users. Moto needs to make syncing to Outlook easier and have the pro bundled with some type of desktop software (e.g. bb desktop manager)

I know its boring but about 99% of bb users use Outlook for biz.

LOL at people that thought the Droid PRO would be anything other than geared towards the business world. I'd consider it pending they're smart enough to make a version without a camera. Lots of us out there aren't permitted to bring cell phones with cameras into work, if we're permitted at all.

I couldn't agree more. This will be a 'blackberry killer' and I know a lot of crackberry users will jump on this.

If...and I mean " if " this is a real Motorola/Android device, it is by far the ugliest one I have seen and IMO a huge step backwards
I Officially take this statement back, so obviously this is a real device and although it is NOT the Droid I am looking for, it fits the Droid Pro title very well and it opens the door for a whole new breed of Android/Droid users, so...good call Motorola, but I am still waiting for my SuperDroid
