Droid pro unveiled!!!!!!!

I know it doesn't fit the typical mold of an Android device, but this phone is going to sell well.

Firstly, because there are still plenty of people who have heard of Android, but have yet to either make the plunge, or have a contract renewal. There are plenty of all touch-screen devices from HTC, Motorola (1), and Samsung; and for the hardware keyboard type, there are now a few options with G2 coming along the Droid 2.

So far, I'd say Android has been able to capture a younger audience. It is an OS that doesn't exactly scream business, and besides, BB has held a stranglehold for a while now. Like others have said, this is Android's opportunity to move in on the business/professional front, hence the "Pro" nomenclature.

It doesn't have the layout for an app like PSX4Droid, but that doesn't matter; this phone is going to be the first viable "switch" option for a lot of BlackBerry users on Verizon. It suggests familiarity and stability, with a bit more of a "business look," for the average BB user.

Android is already doing just fine among the tech-savvy, now it's time to adjust the scope and chip away at RIM. I think having this option is a really smart idea by Motorola, and expect at least 1 competitor in the future.

I couldn't agree more. This will be a 'blackberry killer' and I know a lot of crackberry users will jump on this.

hmmm...I see lots of blackberry people purchasing this and thinking it will work like a Blackberry, discovering it doesn't, and turning it back in for a real Blackberry.

I love it. As far as touchscreens have come on devices like the Droid X and EVO, they can't replace a good physical BB-style KB in my mind. The extra-IT functionality is a plus too, my firm will like the remote wipe capability.

I will definitely be trying this out. I hope reading digital comics will be bearable on the smaller screen.

Too bad no LTE.

It does nothing for me. However, my wife is due for a new phone because he Curve is dying. She is set on a Keyboard. So I might be able to get her away for BB and over to Droid with this phone.

Was thinking to get the CHARM then suddenly Moto announces the DROID PRO...

Make no mistake, the DROID PRO is (vastly) superior to the CHARM in almost every way. The few exceptions are Gorilla Glass and CrystalTalk, maybe they're on DROID PRO as well but I don't find it in the press releases and the tech specs.

But you can value enough for the lack of MOTOBLUR on the DROID PRO.

OTOH the DROID PRO will cost more than the CHARM as well (CHARM is $250 (?) and I guess DROID PRO will be $600.)

Droid Pro

This phone looks like the bastard offspring of the Droid and a Blackberry. The look of it, as previously mentioned, is a huge step back, whatever this phone may offer, Moto made the phone look just a littel too much like its competition. Not impressed, Moto, what else ya got?:motdroidvert:

kinda meh

It is supposed to lure the BB/Enterprise crowd, so I see the niche it fills. Me, I've never really liked BB form factors, so it's just kinda meh.
