It seams like it would be easy to recreate this with a signal generator at the cell phones frequency. You just have to make sure you are in an area with no real cell signal, set the sig gen on the cell frequency and amplify, if needed, to an antenna. Then adjust the output level until you see the X's signal rise and lower to make it disappear.
The sad part about all this is that it will assuage the iPhone users fears and they won't feel like anything is wrong with their device because this is normal.
I'm so sick and tired of Apple's spin tactics. Steve Jobs is not fooling anyone anymore. When this all is said and done Apple will look like one shoddy company that did nothing to alleviate its customers' fears. How despicable. Look at it this way: at least all this negative publicity added emphasis to Moto and Verizon's response to Droid X issues. Not that they wouldn't anyways but its just one more chance for two companies to prove their value to customers. It couldn't be playing out any nicer for Verizon and co.
Wow. This just screams of desperation and sour grapes from apple. When the signal problems were reported about the iphone 4, it was actual iphone owners and customers that were posting on youtube and elsewhere. It's just plain sad when a company has to resort to such ridiculous measures to attempt to bring down its competition instead of trying to beat them by putting out a superior product and providing superior service. I can't believe that Apple actually created a website for this garbage!
I've never really been anti-Apple until now. I was actually considering getting an ipad or a macbook pro, but not anymore.
Haha! The Bill Walton giganto hands....Didn't even think of that when I watched Apple's video, though I do remember thinking "that phone doesn't look so big"
THIS JUST IN, the vanilla droid will infact lose approximately 2 bars if it is locked in a safe 2 floors below ground. I cannot believe that Motorola would try to make people think they had superior antennas. thanks for the video apple
Wow, looks like that may be a good way to get my forearms in shape by squeezing the crap out of the phone! Who needs a gym membership at all, if all you have to do is squeeze your phone like that while talking.
I'm gonna call BS on this for one reason. My original Droid shows 3G coverage for the antenna signal. When I make a call, it shows the actual call signal which in my area is already 1 bar if I'm lucky. I was pissed when I saw that and I feel it was done that way intentionally by Moto or Verizon or both.
Show me a connected call and it doing it, then we'll talk.
