Droid X suffers from Death Grip too, says Apple

I call applesauce on videos I'm not even bothering to watch.

Remember mac vs. Windows? Deja vu. I'm selling AAPL and buying MOT.

Motorola came out early on "we use a dual antenna and not some bs". R these vids a hoax?

Been thinking about that for a while....Google just disappointed on earnings, but I think Android is the key piece that's going to bring everything together with cloud (and PC).

VZW can't really lose in this game, especially if they do end-up getting the IPhone.

I would short Apple. I think it's peaked - it's a marketing company that sells what is increasingly a commodity. But I've said that some time ago when it was at $160 ($260 now, ouch!). Anyone who would consider shorting Apple, however, has to be very scared of the IPhone actually coming to VZW.

Apple reminds me of the kid who could, but cried his eyes out trying.....

Oh Apple...everyone knows that you can make the death grip with one finger and the iPhone will loose around 20-24dbm...but with any other phone you need to cover the antenna...and it is very hard to do that with the droid X....

The funny thing about all this is that Jobs and Apple could have made this a virtual non-issue by admitting, apologizing and offering free cases, which do work.

Explain their design and the positives (having had a 3G for 18 months and a iphone 4 for 14 days, the in-call signal was better...for me anyway) and describe the weakness and move on. Because when all is said and done, it's an innovative design that really does work for most usage. No doubt they can tweak the design to alleviate the problem. But for a company that excels at marketing they blew this repsonse.

They look like whiny brats...this has only elevated the criticism and focus...

The sad part about all this is that it will assuage the iPhone users fears and they won't feel like anything is wrong with their device because this is normal.

Sent from my Droid
+1.

Why not just admit there is an antenna issue and move on? Instead they do a smear campaign....

I think you need a damn death grip just to put the death grip on the droid x. You need to cover the bottom antenna, and stretch your fingers on to cover the top antenna. I honestly don't see any merit of saying the droid x has a death grip since the way you have to hold is is too unorthodox, and no one hold the phone that way.

Could not replicate error, unit is FMC (fully Mission Capable)

Seriously i just spent 20 minutes trying to get these same results, most i lost was 1 bar, so form 4 to 3 bars.

This will make the iphone users happy none the less.

I tried this on my droidx and was able to replicate losing 1 bar. (5 > 4bars)
Was curious and did this on my work Blackberry curve and can duplicate losing 2 bars (4 > 2). This was just a quick test in my work office. Oh well, it's just nature of the physics beast. Still yet to loose or drop a call however on my droid X or Blackberry.

lol obviously apple doesnt realize that NORMAL people dont hold the phone hard enough that there trying to crush it with there bare hands. way too fail apple

My co-worker just tried this on his X and actually GAINED another bar! Swing and a miss Apple! Haha!!!
