And im curious as to why they can't just give it to everyone.

I believe they do it in stages so their network doesn't get bogged down. Like 10,000 a day or so...

Your phone will be up to date until you get the notification that there is an update.

Still waiting for the update... nothing yet (after Check For Updates and rebooting)...
I'm not 100% certain, but I think checking for the update only works when the update was passed to your phone and you declined it at that moment. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
These instructions imply that you can initiate the update.

Yes, those instructions have been up for a few days. I've followed them to the letter. Nothing yet. Still waiting.

Thanks for showing install docs that could be written months before we get an update.. ( I have a feeling we're days away, but still )
But sure, the instructions do "imply" you can download it..
I will only be excited when I hear even the "Soak Test" people have gotten it...
And blogging and news sites were reporting last Saturday that it was released..

If it hasn't been pushed to your phone, usually you can't pull the update manually. It's like trying to copy a file on a server that isn't shared with you yet.
Just wait.
After the phases are complete, anyone can pull the update manually.

The phases haven't started yet, it has yet to be pushed to any phone yet.. All that went up was a document .. Even VZWSupport on twitter yesterday said there was no update yet.
