Dump Bionic for Razr?

For those who returend the Bionic for the RAZR at COSTCO, did you get a confirmation that you'll get the accessories? I was told I did not qualify for the RAZR accessories because I wasn't buying the phone new, but exchanging it from the Bionic.

I'd love to get the HD dock as well, but this is what scares me:

2. Verizon service must be activated between 11/11/11 - 12/31/11.
Technically, our service was activated prior to 11/11/11 when we 'upgraded' to the Bionic. I wonder if this would actually be enforced, or if we would get the bonus pack anyway.

I'm probably a light user, but SmartActions has easily doubled my battery life.

I'm used to the new display now, but I was wishing they used the Bionic's in the RAZR initially. I probably would still prefer the Bionic's screen, but I am happy with the new screen as well. The thinness and lightness are fantastic on the RAZR, and the build quality is typical Motorola, excellent. The Bionic's plastic back, which creaked constantly, was in my opinion a small hiccup in an otherwise far superior history of build quality. I'm very happy with the RAZR, and I'm glad I made the switch. If the RAZR were released after my exchange timeframe, I'd be perfectly happy with the Bionic after stopping the back from creaking. So far, Dev support seems to be stronger for the Bionic though.

Creaking back? ? ? That's new! How in the world did you make it creak?

lol Simply moving it around in my hand would make it creak. I googled it, and lots of people actually reported on it, and how 3 layers of electrical tape under the back would seat it firmly to silence the creaking.

Wow that's interesting. I'm sure glad I have not had that issue. However I would deal with it as opposed to ghetto taping it.

Razr has basically the same processor, overclocked by 200 mhz, and the same pentile display.

Unless VZW has a rabbit up it's butt, and issues an OTA update that fixes both phones' 4g battery drain, your battery life is going to suck--like 5 hours with continual internet use.

Not for nothing, but the only easy way to fix that at this point, is to buy a bigger battery. Or have a spare. But you can't swap batteries on Razr.

Very nice profile, though. So thin!

Frankly, I have my doubts that either Motorola or Verizon would "overclock" any processor, though I do believe they might "underclock" a processor (such as your Bionic) to both conserve battery power and to leave a cushion for future "enhancements" to performance, and which may be tied to OTA updates.

I also believe that if my memory serves me correctly, the "pentile" pixel arrangement on the two phones is distinctly different. This is the reason for the name "Super AMOLED", versus the Bionic's "qHD Pentile AMOLED" display. Sure, they are both technically pentile pixel arrangements, meaning they have unequal number of sub pixels from red to blue to green (and possibly white in the Bionic?), rather than the standard RGB three stripe configuration. I also understand that there are typically more green sub pixels in the traditional pentile arrangement, but they are smaller. This allows the screen to "share" adjacent sub pixels to create an effectively higher resolution while conserving power, but it is the size and arrangement of those pixels that makes all the difference.

Again, they are not the same display, even if they have the same effective resolution.

At the end of the day, it's what you are most happy with that is most important. Some prefer one screen over the other. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages, a with just about everything in life. You say tow-may-tow, I say tah-mah-tow. Make your choice and be happy with it.

As for power, just how much is enough? How about a phone that can surf for 8 hours straight on 4g? What about being able to watch 4 full-length feature films, back to back without charging? Are you really going to subject your eyes to that level of torture? Wouldn't it be far more ergonomic to use a laptop for those marathon sessions? The time I actually get to surf or watch videos on my phone is typically dictated by life, including working for an income, driving for the daily commute and during trips out for shopping and such, enjoying either indoor or outdoor entertainment, recreation, the time I spend eating, sleeping (or not), spending quality time with my family, and either watching TV or listening to music. In other words, perhaps a couple hours daily at the very most.

What I use our most for (aside from making our receiving phone calls), is to do quick research on a product or subject, for directions and navigation, our to find out what my schedule is. For me, the battery typically lasts a day, and if it is running low, I am never far from a power source. The charger is small enough to carry in a pocket, and my car has a power adapter. What more could I ask for?

Manufacturers may push or slack processor clocking depending on their market segmentation, as it appears you are aware of.

My market segment demands a phone that can take heavy desktop-like business usage for a full workday plus occasional drunken partying usage j and still be relied upon to wake me up in the morning.

Otherwise I no buy.

Until nanotube battery tech gets affordable, I will demand a big-ass lithium-ion battery.

Wattage is key. And Razr is for texting students that have nothing mission critical on their agenda.

My .000002 Euros.

My razr is excellent! Really great battery life..goes all day!! Better screen and NONE of the irritating issues my bionic had! This phone is totally a huge improvement for me!!

I agree with the creaking back on the bionic! I had to pull the battery on the darned thing it wasnt clicking on real tight. It would click a lot

Had my Bionic for a full 30 days from Costco. Took it back and got a Razr. Couldnt be happier. Display is better (in my opinion), I think the battery use is better, I thing the phone is snappier with the higher clock speed. I found that the web browser is better... I can do things on the Razr that I could not do on the Bionic... (On netflix, move a movie to the top of the queue...).. So far I am happy with the change to Razr. And I like the smart Actions software, lets me turn off my ringer from 10:00 to 7:00 AM...
Better Phone in my opinion...

I wanted the Bionic so bad I could taste it, but then it seemed it was scrapped, so I go the Charge. Ehh....it was a OK phone, then the screen turned blue and I was offered a refurbished unit and I wasn't going for that. So, I got the charge and I *love* it. It is much sleeker and it seems much faster and more responsive.
