You are welcome,

Unfortunately the "Digital Copy" idea is in my opinion to restrictive. While the movie studios are on the right track with including them, they tend to forget that not everyone has an iPod or a "Plays For Sure" device.

Agreed, and it is my understanding that on the small print that you can only put a digital copy on one device. I believe they can also expire within a certain time. What cheeses me is if I buy a movie, I therefore should have the right to use it on my own equipment how I would like to and as often, whether it is watching the Blu Ray version on the big screen, or throwing a copy of it on my Droid to watch during a snooze fest event (Insert significant other dragging you someplace).

Truth be told I was skeptical with movies on the Droid, but after watching chunks of Ice Age 3 on the Droid I was floored with how good the quality was. Sure it's not on a 55" screen, but if you are on a plane then it will come in handy.

It beats watching "(Falalala-)Life Time" movies with the wife :)

The other thing, and this is what people dont always realize is, when you watch a movie on a portable device, you have the screen closer. With a 55" TV, you usually sit 10-15 feet away, so when you have your Droid about 1 foot away, it looks just as big :)

Except I don't have the dual 10" subs rattling my heart :) Still the sounds are pretty impressive with the built in speaker.

Mr. DVDCatalyst.

I just purchased and ran your program, firs let me say thanks for all your hard work, this is the best product I have used for DVD conversion.
I do need to ask a question, I did my first movie, Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring, in standard droid format (video was at 800) when I play it (and it plays fine and looks GREAT) It is not the full with of the Motorola droid screen. Looking at the video output it is set at 854x480 which is 4.6 not 16.9. Can the setting be switched to a 16.9 size to use the full length of the screen?

Hi Reaper, Thank you. I am glad you like the program.

In regards of your question (and since this is a DVD Catalyst thread, I guess it wouldn't hurt to the main website) I would like to direct you to an article I wrote that addresses this.

DVD to Verizon Droid | Tools4Movies, the official home of DVD Catalyst

It contains some info on how to get full-screen and how this is achieved in general,

this write up

Device screen size video resolution | Tools4Movies, the official home of DVD Catalyst

should help as well.

Thanks again for using DVD Catalyst, and thank you for keeping us safe :)

I ran into a hiccup trying to convert Transformers 2. I get a dialog box that says "non-standard protection found", 98 checkboxes for scenes, and it hangs up. I suppose that they encoded something different for copy protection on this movie? Anyone else try to convert this flick?

Thank you for the information, this clears everything up.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!!

Merry X-Mas !!

Star Trek, Transformers 2 and a few others have a more severe DVD protection system than others. This protection system (Made by Sony, called ARCCOSS) usually creates fake tracks (up to 99) on the DVD, and in some cases scrambles the scene order to trick DVD conversion tools such as DVD Catalyst. These DVDs also have issues on some stand-alone DVD players as well.
Installing the (free) DVD Catalyst Boosterpack can make some of these DVDs work, but the best way is to install a trial version of AnyDVD or to rip the problematic DVD to your harddisk with dvdfab

Only a very small percentage of DVDs have these issues.

That probably explains the scene problems I had with Star Trek scenes being swapped...oh well leave it to Sony to pull this kind of stunt.

Sony always does things a little different. Some of the stand-alone dvd players that have issues are actually Sony's own :)

Quick question...I've tried the trial version and really like it. Problem is I tried it on my work laptop (at home, not during work :P ) It's a pretty decent core2duo machine. My home computer however is a older Celeron processor. I understand that this will make the process slower, but will it also have an impact on the quality? I'm not really suppose to have commercial software on my laptop unless the license it owned by my company so if I buy it I will need it on my home computer. Time doesn't matter since it's an always on machine that is used only to keep skype working and a photo show for my daughter ;)

Thanks

It should not affect quality as long as it can process the data, you might have to run it at night and shut down other programs, but again, it should not affect the quality of the conversion only the speed as you stated.
