[ROM] Eclipse ICS for droid 4

been running this for 2 months now and no problems until recently. the battery life started to suck like i was back on stock. i reflashed after reformatting my sd card and let everything settle for 20 minutes before i picked up the phone again. it was fine for 2 days but its starting to drain pretty fast even if just let the phone stay in my backpack at work. any ideas? btw im running the 1200lv with set cpu on hotplugx. (the other oc's didnt play nice with my d4)

Do you think you have any apps that use a lot of resources? Go to your System Settings and look at your battery stats. That will show if your phone is awake for long periods of time. And it shows which apps use the most battery.

A couple things to keep in mind or that I've tried -

The number one enemy of battery life is the screen. I have mine set to auto brightness most of the day but I drop it to the minimum when it starts getting dark out. Also, I have it set to timeout after 30 seconds (15 was too short for me).

A very close second (and sometimes #1) enemy of battery life is heat. When the battery gets hot, it drains faster. I've noticed it LOSE charge while plugged in when the temp was in the 45 (C) range.

Also, being in low service areas cause your phone to constantly look for a signal - and drains battery fast. Are you in a basement at work?

After that, take a look at what apps are running. Go to the Battery menu where it shows you what has used what percentage.

I've taken it a few steps further - tried limiting my CPU to 600 or 800 when not plugged in or running CPU intense apps. I've also turned off haptic feedback and most window animations. I made some kernel mods in ROM Toolbox (the most important one being VFS cache pressure, dropping it to 30% from 100%). I've also tried to switch to 3G only when I go out and don't necessarily need a 4G connection. These are all minor changes but they all add up.

Also, I use the smartassv2/sio combination right now. It seems to be working well for me.

Hi
I've been running this ROM for a couple of months, keeping it up to date.
It's running wonderfully with the latest version and the 1425 overclock, thanks for all your work!

2 things I've been having problems with ever since I switched to your ROM, for which I've now decided to create a short post, in hopes of getting them resolved:
- After having been connected to WiFi for an extended period, the phone can't seem to get data connection up again, a flight mode toggle is required to fix this. This never happens then it's connected to WiFi for a short time, only when I leave home or work, where the phone had a wifi connection for several hours or more, this happens.

- I can't get any tether solution to work: The built-in functionality works in that it creates a wifi access point which I can see with my laptop/tablet and connect to, however it seems the network packages are not being forwarded over the 3G connection. I can however ping the phone (default gateway address on the laptop), but not 8.8.8.8 e.g. (google dns server). WiFi tether for root from the play store reports everything is fine, but I can't even see the access point from my laptop...

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some useful tips on these issues.
I should mention I'm using this phone in Belgium on a GSM network, I only applied the GSM patch in the OP, and get flawless data connection everywhere.

I can't say for certain since I've never used it in GSM mode, but did you set your device profile to "Motorola Droid RAZR (GSM)" in Wifi Tether? I use the Motorola RAZR (CDMA/LTE) option but I'm in America.

thanks for the tips ya'll. i dont work in a basement and i have excellent 4g and 3g coverage so its not searching for a connection. i checked my battery stats and the 2 main powermunchers are the screen and android system. i fooled around with some different settings and i'm trying the smartassv2 profile to see how it works. thanks again!

That did the trick, thanks!

Now only to find a solution for my 1st problem (no mobile data recovery after connected to wifi for a longer time).

i know lol how cool... guidot is the man!

lol you listed your phone# instead of model. might not want to do that on the inter-webs

i hope this is not already posted however i am having an issue with the google now patch. it keeps loading as if it is the first time i opened the app. i have several times clicked 'yes i am in' and all it does is go to a google search bar with nothing more underneath. i search for NE Patriots and it pulls up a card (yes!) but after i close and reopen the app, it explains to me again what google now is and asks me if i am in... have already cleared data and cache to app. fresh upgrade from to latest build on your server. after install of build, flashed now6 zip then speedscript... any ideas? sorry, post on the d4 at work...

myfishbear - got a question for you. not sure if it's a rom thing or an app thing, but i use cpu spy to monitor how often my cpu is in each particular state when i notice a drop off in battery life. however, when i run your oc scripts, the battery stats file doesnt seem to change - it still has the 300/600/800/1000/1200. so if i run the 1320 one (which i have been), the only stats that get reported at 300 and 600 (since the others are 900, 1100, and 1320). do you know how i might be able to fix this?

Hybrid has the moto and vzw stuff in the ROM too. I like moto's 'Smart Actions' so I run the hybrid build.

oh okay, i might switch to that, my phones in dire need of a good wipe anyways! havent wiped since when i first came to eclipse, at around version 1.2 lol

Hi, I recently did a full wipe and reinstall of this ROM just to clean stuff up as I was having storage issues when updating already-installed apps. When I check under Storage in the main Settings, it has the internal storage listed as "App Storage" of a little more than 2 gigs, and then the fake internal SD-Card partition also maybe a lil more than 2 gigs from the look of it. My question is, where in the world is the rest of the 16 gigs of internal storage?!?! I don't even want there to be the stupid SD-Card partition, but if that's only using up 2 gigs, why are apps trapped in some other small 2gig partition? Is there some way to re-size the partitions in Android or even possibly make the ROM so that it just treats the internal storage as ONE 16 gig partition, which would seem to make far more sense than whatever it's doing now. While it says I have 331mb available for "Application Storage" I'm sure that my internal storage isn't nearly that full....and even so, why wouldn't Facebook, which is all of 14 megs take issue with updating when it's already using up that same 14 megs so updating couldn't possibly use up much more.

I am using SS 2.11 I believe and have never touched anything with regards to my mounts and partitions. I have a microSD card as well, but it has plenty of free space.

Even if this is not something you, myfishbear, can directly address right now, does anyone know of apps for Android that let you view/adjust partitions on Internal Storage?

Update: I downloaded DiskInfo and since I don't have permission to attach a file, click the link below for the results...still do not understand where all 16 gigs of internal space is, or why I'm getting the error of not enough space when updating Facebook or other larger apps that seemingly had enough space to be installed in the first place!
