If I don't wipe before installing this will I still lose all of my apps? Also, if I don't wipe and I keep getting a boot loop should I pull the battery or just go into recovery?
Anyone else having issues with their homescreens? I installed and then rebooted and now its all gone.
Stock kernel ?
May I ask what for, you can install all apps, maps update work. It is at the default setting.. I am curious why you would want that.

I am having a hard time deodexing the 84B release and thought maybe the stock kernel may help. I am pretty sure it will not but cant figure out what is wrong since when I deodexed it went fairly smooth...
Used xUltimate, ran into some problems, over came those problems, built ROM using xUltimate, gave me an error 2 exit, copied deodexed files into the release, everything was fine until I used the music player, gave me a media forced stop error, switched media.apk file and then music player sort of worked. Would hang when scanning SD card but would play music if I double clicked on music file and then my pictures would not load into album

Sorry to drop two Froyo FRF84B ROMs on you in one day, but we were just sent a cleaned up version which sports the developer Android kernel (800MHz). (How does only 59MB sound?)
You won’t find a ton of differences between this version and the one from this morning, but for those purists out there like me, you’ll know what I’m getting at. It definitely includes root.
Some of the stock apps including Google Maps and Facebook have been removed and can be downloaded from the market to insure a smoother install. (Those of you with GMaps issues will enjoy this.)
Download: cleanFRF84B.zip
Instructions are the same as earlier. Download to SD card, open ROM Manager and choose “Install ROM from SD card.”
Let me know if you have any issues!
Cheers Stephen for putting this together!

if you don't wipe u won't loose anything, i just did my wifes from stock 2.1, didn't wipe just rooted and installed over it using clockworkz. boot looped the first time. Pulled the battery and just installed it again w/o wipe and it runs perfect now.
As hook said, this is not anything Verizon will ever push out. Verizon isn't ready to push 2.2 out yet and whatever they do make available...this isn't it.
As for how it gets installed, the market update, flash, etc...check out link 1 in my signature. Post 13.
That's the thread for the first 2.2 release. This is the thread for the second (hence "more froyo") release. The instructions there are still valid and point to the file in this thread's first post.
Vzw 2.2 update will be slow, restrictive, closing all root exploits, and probably put a tab on the usb tethering option in the setting so to make sure they are getting paid.
To each his/her own. If you prefer to do things dress right dress, by the book, 100% compliance with your user agreement with vzw. Then I would suggest you wait until August.
Agree with your point. And love the Dress Right Dress reference. LOL Army here.
"Developer Android Kernel" Can someone explain this? How is it different from the current Froyo Kernels floating around?
