First ROM Since Cyanogen to Truly Embrace Open-Source

Download is on their wikipage.

I know that, But he's talking of making it available via rom manager.
If that happens, I hope it's still available on his wiki as not everyone cares for rom manager.

Downloads will always be available on the wiki. I don't personally use rommanager, I'm just putting my rom on it because I know there are those who do :)

I have heard rumors that 2.2 source will be pushed to AOSP end of june.

I have a script checking hourly that will email me when that happens, haha.

That's Funny, I don't care who you are....

An hourly script? Wow that is funny and maybe a little sick! :)

lol...ever see folks lined up outside a store for some new product release? Of course with products sometimes you just can't get one for months if you miss roll out day.

I hear cvpcs on screenshots. Under the cover features, like 2.2's streaming music from your computer or wireless cifs mounting or networking tools that aren't in other roms would be features hard to screenshot. Looking forward to seeing newer features by various rom devs. The good ones will catch on and end up in all roms and even spill over to the official android releases too from time to time I bet. I like how it appears work on added functionality might take a front seat to themes, while others work on themes is still going to be available with some minor tweaks from this dev team.

Good luck to you guys; hope you are able to get it going on the droid, and hopefully future platforms.

Looks very nice I do love it when the options for reboot and recovery are in the power menu.

Cant wait to see what you do with this rom.

Has anyone tried to use Juice Defender on this rom?

also, what speed kernel is everyone using?

Never really needed juicedefender. Might try it though. Who knows?

And the kernel isn't about what everyone else is running, it's what your phone can run. Either try from past experience or mess around with different kernels/speeds until you get one that works.

Btw, CVPCS/Sniffle, how are the themes coming along?

sniffle first off welcome aboard....I look forward to using and seeing Your work and secondly I called it a while back that You were a Guy to watch. : )

Great to have you here.

Sent from my Droid
i remember this, it was the first time i had ever heard of sniffle. im probably gonna try this ROM out next. i may wat to see what themes become available. i always use ultimate droid ROMs and i currently love the droptheme and luna theme but this might be a ROM to pull me away from UD.

thank you for the reply.

I know it's not about what everyone else is running. I wanted a good idea of what is running well for those who are on this ROM. I haven't tried it yet.

The themes are coming along alright. I already have a mechanism to get the core images into an update.zip, but am determining if I want to simply change the text color and hard code it, or incorporate one of cyanogen's ideas to include a "color picker" in spare parts. haven't decided yet. i'm hoping to get something out by the end of next weekend as far as themes are concerned.

this will also probably be released as a new update though to 0.5.1, as i have added a few minor things and may as well push them out too :D

in response to your kernel questions, i personally run the 7x1000LV kernel with JIT turned off, and then in spare parts i set window and transition animations to "fast", and the rom runs super snappy.

i know that one of my other testers likes to live dangerously, and typically runs the 7x1200LV kernel with JIT disabled as well as the animations/windows tweaks. from what i've heard he's stated that it runs really stable for him, and he's only had one kernel panic (hard reboot, typically due to the OC being too fast), since he installed, and that's because he was stress-testing the system.

I recommend the 7x1000LV as a good starting point personally. It's a good combination of stability and speed.

also i want to remind people to please use my bug tracker if you have any ideas for cool things you'd like to see in the ROM. i know this is still 2.1, but i am somewhat dead in the water until 2.2 comes out, and anything i can implement now i will be implementing in 2.2 too

so just saying, if there's something you'd like to see your rom do, go to Bugzilla Main Page and file a new bug as an "Enhancement" so I can keep track of it :D

Here's a late "welcome!" I'm gonna read up on this rom. Lol at Kyon facepalm.

Thanks on both accounts :D My favorite part of this avatar? I had one person tell me that every time I PM'ed them they felt like I was doing that motion >< lol

You should definitely incorporate the theme color changer in spare parts :)

I hope you make a froyo rom when the source is released! Ill be all over it. Your rom looks beast already. I almost wanna try it over froyo

Thanks for the kind words :) I can guarantee that I will be releasing a Froyo variant as soon as google releases the source code. As I have mentioned before I have an automated system checking AOSP hourly which will email me when it's there ^.^

And on that note, you SHOULD try it over froyo ;)

Also, for those interested, very little was ever changed in the system, so some of the metamorph themes out there SHOULD work, provided that they didn't do any of that smali/baksmali crap and only changed the images. That being said, anyone who wants to test some themes out and let me know if any work, please do so I can post them under the theme section!
