Froyo Here For The Droid X

Reading the forums at XDA. Everybody that installed the koush recovery is screwed due to the fact that his app modified our logwrapper files. Even if you uninstall the app, the files are still there. If you delete them like I did, then you screwed and have to flash the sbf file again back to stock to start all over.

This really sucks that his recovery app screwed up the update.

Actually ask xlivewire7x. The link has been changed

i used Koush's recovery to remove a theme. Should I not do this? Or is there a way to remove koush's recovery and do this safely?

I'm SBFing right now. I really hope it doesn't completely return my phone to stock settings... I was hoping to update and keep my settings. Oh well.

I cant believe you crying babies *****ing about koush's recovery. You are a bunch of ungrateful people. HE DID US A FAVOR...and you cry and moan...geez people...flash the .sbf......then upgrade to 2.2. Without all the devs....we would be stuck with a stock 2.1. STOP THE CRYING before they disappear.

MrDon if you are successfull could you pm me the SFB file you are using i have a file that was pmd to me but its not labled .sfb and if i change it to that it doesnt work and if you dont change it will not see the file

Can this be done without root or no? Sorry, Im a noob :(

If you don't want to have a rooted phone in the end, then no, you do not need to be rooted in order to install the update. I just did it fine with my non-rooted droid x.

Mooem,

Thanks. The Droid X is my first Android phone, I don't know much about this stuff. I don't want to root my phone till I feel more knowledgeable, can you tell me which set of instructions you followed to download and install the update?

And this may be a dumb question, but would installing this version of 2.2 keep me from getting the OTA upgrade when the official version comes out?

Thanks in advance!

1) Download update.zip to the main directory of your SD card.
2) Reboot your phone into recovery by holding down the power button and the home key
3) At the screen with the triangle, hit the Search button.
4) Install Update and then reboot

Welcome to Froyo!

I don't see any reason why this would stop an OTA push to your phone when the official version is released.

This is the definition of crying ^.

As far as I know, there has not been a rom made yet and with 2.2 he will already have to modify the bootstrapper app.

So coming out with it this early was pretty much useless and more detremental.

I will have to do this as well I think since I used the recovery tool. I don't fully understand what does the .sbf file do? How do you go about applying it? And does it wipe the phone completely?

i used terminal emulator to move su and it worked just fine

i did not have koush's recovery and that seems to be the problem that people are having

i used the one click root method because im lazy and the non rooted way seemed like more work.

froyo is up and running!!

I had downloaded koush's recovery, but had not run it yet... shouldn't have the same issues.. I'm updating as we speak.. I'll post if I have any issues...
